Enjoy The Ride

Album: Get Wet

Year: 2013

Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf lead carefree lives in the restrained “Enjoy The Ride.”

A contemplating synth opens the single, setting an entranced tone. Life has always had a new feeling for the Yousafs. There is almost something to discover. Every trip they went on was unplanned and not the original destination. On the way, they met wonderful and helpful people. Some were servers they met at their favorite restaurant. Others were bar owners who happened to hear about them from friends. They knew they were capable. They really wanted to a chance, even it meant multiple rejections. (“We were born ready, ready to be free/Chasing every thrill we could see/With our eyes steady, wake into a dream/Aching to be thrown in the ring.”)

In the pre-chorus, they know they aren’t entitled to instant success. However, there isn’t a challenge they won’t try. It’s important to them that they just try. They have their drive, joy and passion. It will help them face anything. (“If nothing comes easy as long as we're breathing/We'll go all the way or go home/We were born ready, wherever it leads/What we have is all we need.”)

In the chorus, things can happen really quickly or it take several years after missed steps. Either way, they are grateful to be living. In the end, it may be the best decision they ever made or a mistake they won’t be able to fix.  Doing absolutely nothing, though, would leave them awake at night, wondering what if. (“'Cause if it's fast or slow all I really know/Is I'm gonna enjoy the ride/And if it's hard or soft before we get off/I'm gonna enjoy the ride/Enjoy the ride/'Cause if it's fast or slow all I really know/Is I'm gonna enjoy the ride/Enjoy the ride/'Cause if it's fast or slow all I really know/Is I'm gonna enjoy the ride/And if it's hard or soft before we get off/I'm gonna enjoy the ride/Enjoy the ride.”)

They were curious children, always in search of something. As they got older, they became known as the free spirits at school, standing up to teachers who tried to keep them quiet. Determined and ambitious, they weren’t going to let anyone tell them no. Their group of friends, though small, was made up people who all looked out for each other. If anyone in the group tried to screw another person over, they were gone. (“We were born hungry, hungry for the rush/Screaming when they tell us to hush/Hit the ground running, leave them in the dust/Only run with those we can trust.”)

In the pre-chorus, they know not every dream will be realized, most will reach their limit. But it’s better than not knowing. They have to act now. Decades in life pass by and before they know it, disease will catch up to them. (“If nothing comes true as we fly where it's blue/As we're ready to face the unknown/We were born hungry, we'll never get enough/'Cause we're only here this once.”)

Part of the chorus is sung.  (“'Cause if it's fast or slow all I really know
Is I'm gonna enjoy the ride…enjoy the ride.”)

In the bridge, they are eager for another chance. There is so much left to learn. (“Let's do it again, let's make it tonight/Yeah, let's go into the sky, yeah, it's light.”)

Part of the chorus is sung again. (“And if it's fast or slow all I really know/Is I'm gonna enjoy the ride/Enjoy the ride.”)

An rhapsodic beat lifts its spirits high.

Part of the chorus is sung. (“'Cause if it's fast or slow all I really know… enjoy the ride.”)

             The bridge is sung again.

Part of the chorus is sung again to end the single. (“And if it's fast or slow all I really know/Is I'm gonna enjoy the ride/Enjoy the ride.”)

The Yousafs’ even-tempered vocals have had faced some hardships and have grown from them as a result. Mistakes, they’ve had many and too many horror stories to share in one night. However, they have some positive experiences which left them awestruck. They are realistic but also are thankful for everything they have

With the peaceful “Enjoy The Ride” Krewella stops trying to be hardest partier in the room and starts thinking beyond it.
