Nothin’ My Love Can’t Fix

              Joey Lawrence comforts his distraught girlfriend in the opportunistic  “Nothin’ My Love Can’t Fix.”

               Frisky synths open the single, setting a hinting tone.   She comes out of her house, her mouth a straight line and throws her backpack down. As he backs out of her driveway, she continues to say nothing. He asks her what he can do to help her feel better. She shakes her head and says she doesn’t want to talk about. Then, she bursts into tears. He tells her that when she’s ready she can talk to him. (“Why is my baby blue/Can't see the colors/Of a sunny day/Stuck in that point of view/What can I do to take your tears away/I'm not denying/There's a time for crying/Just tell me why you look so sad tonight/I know it’s crazy/Living in a world these days but/If you take me by the hand.”)

         In the chorus, he tells her that he loves her and he’s there for her. He’s her rescuer, swooping in to save her. (“There's nothing my love can't fix/For you baby/I'm positive of this/I tell you/There's nothing my love cant fix/For you baby.”)

           She wipes her eyes with a tissue. He tells her to look at him. He promises to take her out to their favorite restraurant. Later, they will cuddle and make out together. Making out will solve everything. On the couch later, he says his arms need her. She can rest with him. He says love is a great experience.  (“Aw girl/Please look in my caring eyes/I'll take you up so high/You'll start forgetting/You were ever down/Kisses will dry your eyes/This is the way to/Turn your world around/We all get lonely/But if you just hold me/We both can go beyong the stars tonight/Oh, once you have it/Love works like magic/Just open/Open up your heart.”)

         The chorus is sung again.

         In the bridge, he says their love bonds them. He reassures her she’ll be ok. He actually does care about her. He’s not using her mood as a way to take advantage of her.  (“Love is the glue that binds us/When we get lost it finds us/You'll lose your blues soon/Cuz baby my love is true/Break it.”)

        Part of the second verse is sung again. (“1 2 3/Oh, once you have it/Love works like magic/Just open up your heart.”)

           The chorus is sung twice.

           In the second bridge, he decides to rap. He says they should take a weekend and go up to his parent’s summer home. He says they belong together. But he doesn’t understand why she’s become so distant .He digresses and says he’s from Philadelphia and then returns back to her. He says he can’t think when he sees her. (“Aw you know its true/All I gotta say is/Baby baby/I love you in every way.Cuz lady.Ya gotta get away with me/Ya gotta get away with me today/Cuz our love has got to shine through/And baby you got to see it too/That we were meant girl me and you/But lately you been acting/Like I smell like a zoo/Philly zoo to be exact/And hey Philly's my origin/As a matter of fact/But let’s get back to the subject at hand/Baby baby baby/Oh you is back in demand/When I look at you girl/My heart goes right into a whirl/And all I gotta say about the situation.”)

          He sings “there’s nothin’ my love can’t fix” to end the single.

 

              Lawrence’s anemic vocals scrounge up some lust. His transparent way of bringing up kissing and making out to make her happy is downright hilarious. It’as all for her. There is no attempt to hide it. The rap section is outright embarassing. The only surprising thing is that Lawrence hasn’t tried to shut any video down. Copyright issues would be the perfect cover for it.

           The  cringeworthy “Nothin’ My Love Can’t Fix” is made of beefcake and nothing else.
