Some things I like about Distant worlds I would like to see in Galactic civilizations

I've played some of Distant worlds and found a couple of things I like.

The first thing that I like is that I can point my mouse over a planet and change my build que, and that my build que also tells me how much it costs.

The second thing I like is that the solar has lines on the small map. I think this could be improved it is hard to tell the difference from a planet and a ship this way. I like the way the galaxy contracts and expands when you zoom.

With option number two I don't see a graphic problem because of this.

This post might change in the  future as I play the game, so you may occasionally want to check this site out.

The reason why I'm posting it hear is because I think these concepts might want to be considered as a start for an idea for reverse engineering.

I think they should or shouldn't have mines on the game.

I'll hijack this thread and post what I'd like to see as well. :)

When creating custom races, I would like to be able to select another race that is "at odds" with my custom race..or even make two custom races "at odds" with each other.  In other words, for whatever reason, these two races would always mistrust one another (because of ideology, etc.).  In the old game Alpha Centauri, for example, the Gaians (environmentalists) were always in conflict with the Morganites (free market corporate types).

I realize that making one race "good" and another "evil" would be similar but that wasn't always a guarantee that they would stand apart from one another.  This measure of control would allow these two races to never truly trust one another (never form an alliance).

Thank you for listening.

That was somewhat in GalCiv2- Torians and Drengin would start up with a heavy malus to relation.  Even in the game where the Drengin turned good the Torians still hated them.

Hopefully this is the right thread for my comment.

Seems like not many are interested in the Game accordingly to this survey.

I just wanted to say, not to make the game too complex (like endless Space or Civilization V BNW). I would rather focus more on the KI and maybe make more testing. Also more focus on the Campaign would be nice. I cann't wait to see the new series of Galactaic Civilizations 3, really looking forward to it. Is the game also gonna be sold over steam?

I've never heard that Civ5 was "too complex" as a complaint....

I couldn't download civ5 but I did love civilization 4 beyond the sword and xolonization I didn't think those were to complicated. I do remember playing call to power it did take me awhile to learn about the civilians. I wish I learned that while I was still playing that. Around the 1800's my civilizations would crash that is because I would make all my citizens scientists. I later upgraded to civilization 3 play the world. I did not know those were different games. Pitty know looking back at it I think they had a good shot. Atari should have hung in there.

Yes.

Currently installing Civilization 5. Bought it a long time ago. It still there. I also redownloaded Master of orion 2. The game have a descent number of races. Very little flexibility though. I thought Galactic civilizations looked bad until I seen this game. I guess that is due to the low system requirements. Small map. At least distant worlds is good looking.

I have a problem I've just installed both my gamestop and my steam accounts. The steam had civilization 5. I know the name of my other account, but my other email account I used is closed, and I forgot my password. The reason I need aces to my other account is because it has Skyrim. I had to reinstall my stuff since then, but I don't have the Cd anymore. How do I obtain my other account information considering I can't use my email anymore, and how do I consolidate the two accounts.

There is no way to consolidate two accounts at all. It was in FAQ.

You can join Steam Family Sharing group and "authenticate" one of your accounts on another and vice-versa, so you'll have access to all games.

Ok all I remember from the other account is the name I lost the C.d. and the serial number. It appearantly either has an email account I can't remember, or it is using my email that is discontinued. O'm pretty sure it is the latter. How can I get my account information without remembering the email, so I can get my Skyrim I paid for.

You can try to write to Steam Support (you need to create additional account there if you don't have one yet), describe your situation, give them some credentials you remember (at least if you remember any credentials), probably provide CD-key for Skyrim (photo, along with ticket number) to prove you own it, and maybe they'll be able to help you. Maybe they'll require you to provide receipt for Skyrim, or any other proof of purchase.

Otherwise, I'm afraid, you have to repurchase Skirim again. But contact Steam support first, and give them some time to reply - Valve isn't big, and delay of week are normal.

And here I thought Endless Space and Civilization 5 were simple games.  Silly me, I guess this is what happens when you play too much Paradox Interactive though...  :P

Personally I love complexity in games, so long as it adds depth and can be reasonably managed.  In Hearts of Iron 3 the tech tree is really overwhelming at first but its actually quite easy to work with once you get an idea of what everything is.  You can fine-tune your military as you see fit rather than pour excessive amounts of research into certain fields.

They call themselves "Paradox" for a reason. ;)

I like games where complexity added for depth, as you said, not for complexity itself (even Sid Meier calls for avoidance of overcomplication (alas, some would take it as a call of further dumbing down)). In general Paradox do maintain the balance, and I don't mind to see certain features from their games in GC3, because as much as I like Paradox, I'm also like space (Space! SPAAACE!), and space games aren't that complex, Paradox doesn't seem like willing to make anything Sci-Fi, so here I am, will you send an... ;)

One thing I liked was that the build Que could be acesed by a right click.

Also eliminating complexity, but keeping the same features is good. This is talking about civilization.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Voluntary survey's in a foreign language that is not the language of Stardocks majority customer demographic on a website they didn't know existed until they clicked your link probably aren't very reliable  >_>

Agree about survey.  Self selection of participants, no double-blind survey apparatus in place.  Those types of surveys have little value, except to those who actually vote in them.  A better way to determine a games value (for you!) is to go to the forums on several different sites and read what the players are actually saying.  Also, view a few videos of users actually playing the game in question.  DW, IMHO, the very best 4x Space game out there.  I love GalCiv, and enjoy it immensely.  Endless Space is getting there.  I would not want GalCiv to become a DW - (resources/mining) but many aspects of DW I would live to see in GalCiv: leaders, characters, naval and ground commanders, ground units and planet side combat, administrators, and covert operatives of various types.  DW characters are a really nice part of the game.  Even a GalCiv needs exceptional (and blah/meh) leaders / roles. Puts a 'human' touch on the game.

Two things I would like to see leaders go.

1. Multiple leaders per faction with different abilities.

2. Very interactive like they are on medieval total war.
