All the people that have made Master deserve to keep the title and their skins will last a life time. It doesn't matter if they no longer skin or not any longer. 

Hear is my problem and may be others. I'm not an artist so to visualize somethings are not easy for me. Saying that I have what I think were some different thoughts about a skin. My opinion is the startmenu,  taskbar and windows are the main visual that people see. The rest of the skin just follows and falls in place.

I made a couple startmenus that looked real cool I thought. One of them looked like something I saw before so I went searching. Found a Wb that the SM looked almost the same as the one I made. So hence I just throw that one away. More checking I found the same for the other one was very close to another WB. There are so many great eye popping older skins still available but for me it makes it hard to think of making something real different from all those that are done and look cool. I try however such as my Structure WB. Until something pops into my mind very different I will continue to make them trying to at least keep quality in the WB. I have a Christmas Wb just about completed. Will be making a thread today or tomorrow and will be uploading in a week or two. I think the SM looks very good along with the rest of it, but hell I made it. lol.

So hats off to all the skinners, past, present, and future. You all have my respect. Us current skinners are trying so hang in there something may pop up that becomes super looking so to speak.

Very well written Dave and speaks to everyone, the "ancient ones", the "young pups" and those in the middle. No one should be discouraged from trying to create something, whether it is a windowblind or a new fangled automobile. It doesn't mean there shouldn't be constructive criticism. To do that you must download whatever it is and use it, ok NOT an automobile!   I used to tell my friends on Devianart not to favorite something of mine , just because we are friends. If you don't like it, for whatever the reason, tell me. Well 99% of the people won't, because no one wants to hurt someones feelings. And thinking about commenting, it takes time and we all know how precious that can be.

I have not seen these old skins to judge them and if I did see them, I would not insult their work.

I do not see anything in my posts that would be taking anything away from any master skinner.In my first post I responded to half of the statement above mine about skins being boring and similar.I ignored the comparison to masters, which now this post has become also.So now their are two posts about the masters who no longer skin.

I've created more skins than you properly EVER will. 520+ skins for 120+ applications.
I've seen more skins than anyone.
I've create skins with the best, for the best.
I've got the largest private collection of skins/themes on this planet - 56000+ items. I've got more WB's (close to 10000) than has ever been uploaded to Wincustomize, and that includes all the rejected ones as well.

I know a good, quality skin from a crap one. And believe me, it's been quite a while since I've seen a quality skin.

So, put a pipe in it, sunnyboy. You've got no idea who you're up against.

Snow doesn't have to 'do some'....that's exactly my point....he's done more than anyone.

Some history.

Skinning was [always has been] a niche market....at any one time all that was needed was 3 or 4 sites to expire for whatever reason and the entire history of skinning would be lost.  Snowman took it upon himself to collect/archive everything ever released....including the DOZENS of applications most people these days haven't even heard of.

I started PeppermintChristmas Recut the other day, should be shortly done and way better, which wouldn't take much.Can't believe how bad the original is after a years time of not seeing it. Sorry peeps, can't even use it, eew.
