Funny ideas: The Pure Starbase Strategy

For some reason people think that they need to assign fighters/warships to starbases or something.  Pfft.

The idea:

1.  Build starbases.

2.  Build ONLY starbases.  Influence starbases, economic starbases, heck even a military starbase here and there, it doesn't matter.

3.  Get starbase fortifications and fortify them.

4.  Watch the AI suicide their fighters into them.  Laugh.

Why it (kind of) works:

1.  Economic starbases provide a benefit to your economy (so that you can spam out more constructors and build more starbases).

2.  Constructors are cheap as heck compared to military units.

3.  AI prioritize starbases, so if you fortify them enough, they'll suicide units into them non-stop.

4.  Influence starbases will eventually take over the AI planets so it's a powerful offensive tool.

Eventually you win through turtle-ly attrition.  If you can trade 1 starbase with 10 constructors for 15-20 level IV or V enemy fighters, that's worth it.  Each one of those fighters costs the same as 3-4 constructors.

Starbases do go up in costs as their numbers increase.  That is, the 25th one costs more than the 10th.

I hope you will post on how well this strategy works as you increase the difficulty level.

Don't Ai invade planets

Build farms on your border planets and increase population to like 16 billion with super-breeder.  They can try to invade, but they'll fail.  Even if they control the space around the planet, if the pop is high enough, the AI has to pay a huge price to capture it.

And even if they manage to invade a planet, who cares? If you can influence-flip 3 planets for every 1 planet they capture, you're getting ahead.

This strategy works pretty well, even on higher difficulties.

The key is to disband influence starbases once you've flipped the planets.  Also, be evil and get the Mind Control Center and the free starbase upgrades.  Finally, BRIBE the AIs to constantly war on another, so they ignore your undefended constructs.

The idea behind this is you can skip/delay a lot of military techs and the expensive and otherwise useless planetary invasion path.  You don't even need to defend your starbases as long as you can keep the AIs at war with one another.  Instead of building silly things like expensive troop transports and a military, just bribe bribe and bribe and build constructs.

The main advantage of this is you DON'T NEED TO DECLARE WAR to take their colonies.

Wow this is great but if the Ai takes to many planets or lower your home planet enough this will make your day harder I've seen it though some of my better games I flip a lot of planets playing the Yor I seen a few of my planets flip it can happen once I got a radioactive world from the altarians when I didn't have radioactive colonization
