BUG - Unable to load any savegames after last Steam update

So Steam updated Sins the other day, I opened the game today, and found I'm no longer able to play any of my save games, with the error "save game is from an older version of sins and cannot be loaded".

A quick google search shows that this was an issue when the game went from beta to full release, but can't find anything more recent.

I'm pretty disappointed in this, as I was over 12 hours in to a large campaign and about 2 thirds through conquering the universe, uploading episodically to YouTube.

Is there any way to sort this out? I don't want my campaign to be over!

:'(

Not a bug. Saves/replays aren't portable across versions that make certain types of changes. Please see the patch notes.

That totally sucks! If this is the case, there should've been some prompt in Steam instead of just forcing an update without any notification...

Is there any way I can download the previous version?

Unfortunately there is no way to revert unless you've manually backed up the files beforehand.

Steam does have the option to make updating manual, but that has to be explicitly set by the user on a per-game basis. As far as I am aware there is no way we could force that option on from our end.

Yep, you suffered a Steam issue.
