Outposts: Do people actually use the upgrades?

Outposts can be upgraded.  The question is, are people actually using this and if so, does it make a difference to the outcome of the game?

I didn't realize outposts could be upgraded in Legendary Heroes, but I will certainly look at the options now.

They can in FE as well. Just an FYI if you still play FE.

I recall now that it was an option in FE, but I never used it and had completely forgotten about it.

Update: I just finished playing a game on a large map. I found that upgrading my interior outposts to towers that increased friendly movement a big help. It enabled a relatively small but experienced force mobile enough to secure a very wide area. And outposts near combat active borders were upgraded to one of the several combat/spell casting enhancement. The only upgrade I never use is the clatrap (slows enemy movement). The only reason I don't use the 'slow enemy movement' upgrade is because it is already dropped to two (2) squares per turn (three with restless march). So its redundant.

I'm using upgrades a lot in my current game for the increased zone of control - as a way of joining up my territory without using too many pioneers. I haven't used many other upgrades yet, but I'm sure I will make use of the increased movement & pop growth as it goes on.
