Turn based games you may not have heard of...

Armageddon Empires was a good game. Not a ton of replayability, but enough. The only drawback was it was single player, the game would benefit a lot, and probably attract more people, if it had multiplayer and a dedicated server.
Solarium Infernum is a good game, very unique and so forth, but it gets old after a while. Worth the buy, but its more of a 6-7 out of 10 game.

Ty for show dead state. It looks worth checking out.

The short of it is that it is requested quite often at work; it also is short word and (outside of my profession) unique, which makes it a good screen name for my  purposes.

People with passing familiarity with it usually have some qualms with it until I let them know it was not chosen as the result of unfortunate social interactions.

I got CoE on Steam, but I haven't played it yet...I had been interested in D3, but I have heard it is only worth it as a multiplayer game. I like single player games, so I decided to pass.

I think most people here know out Dom3, er not that you shouldn't have mentioned it. I never bought it because Dom2's AI was quite poor and I do not know anyone to play multiplayer with, so I never got Dom3. If it had a lot better AI it would be a good game. I bought CoE3, its decent, but becomes too repetitive for me. And many of the map modes have you constantly having to retake towns/cities/etc. because a deer walked in. Maybe amusing at first, gets old very quickly. I bought the game for 3.99 or so which was fine.

The AI in Dom 3 is pretty shitty.  Very shitty? You are not going to get much of a challenge from the AI in that game.

They now have a demo of The Age of Decadence (I haven't tried it myself).

It's been in development a long time, and looks extremely good. However, based on the demo, it's a tough, unforgiving RPG, in you can't spread your experience points everywhere and expect to win. And although it's been said before, everything you do does have consequences with people you've never met. You make friends, then you will make enemies. Tough combat, too. I'm looking forward to this one.

I kinda like that (choices made now affect your path later on) as long as it is done logically (or with a very clever plot twist). If I associate with do-gooders, I should not expect to become the head of the Pilferers Guild (I didn't wanna use Thieves Guild ).

I, too, am looking forward to this and Wasteland 2 and Eador and a slew of other TB games. I already have my pre-order with GOG for Eador and I usually never pre-order...and I haven't even played Genesis (I bought Genesis from GOG as well, but I can't get it to work unfortunately). Can't wait for April 19th.

I tried the demo. I found the dialogue boring, the interface irritating and the art/graphics boring(not due to not being as good as games with more funding).

Then it's not the game for you.

Age of Decadence's developers wanted to create a game somewhat along the lines of BG2, but with more attention to interactions between characters and between characters and groups. So relatively simple, early choices you make really do have permutations on a lower level. And the higher you go in your selected profession, with a given group, the greater the awareness of your character from higher-ups--some of whom may decide to take you out, or to seduce you away, or to seek your assistance since you seem allied to their agenda--their surface agenda. All at the same time. The idea was to create a genuine RPG, a fantasy environment in which everything interacts intelligently, as though you were living it.

I don't know what kind of game you want, and I wouldn't diss anybody else's choices along these lines, anyway. But if you're seeking a JRPG, or a go-anywhere-do-anything WRPG, or an action RPG with cutaway scenes--AoD isn't a good fit. As for the interface, I like it, and the retro-look of the BIS games is something some of us look upon with fond memories. Doesn't mean you should, but there it is.

Demo's out for all to try. Just remember it isn't easy, and it is pretty damn realistic. No freebies, even at game start. It's not an ironman game, but a newly arrived wimp who has no connections and almost no skills isn't going to do well against armed mercenaries. Keep that in mind. And note: the game really does play very differently depending upon the background you choose. A merchant is not going to be a decent fighter, and attempts to raise fighting skills will make for a dismally trained merchant with only slightly better than abysmal fighting skills--the kind of person you'd expect to get killed when facing someone who's seen plenty of fighting action. For a thief, it's a fascinating title.

Dominions 3, do you still play?  It is an outstanding, outstanding, game.  It is great in MP, but it's still terrific in SP.  SP is really the only decent way to learn.  Are MP games still available? 

Yes, but it's tough. Thnk: Brave Sir Robin. You'll get the idea. Also, choose your friends wisely. A good merchant knows whom to suck up to.

Discovered it while perusing BeamDog. Seems interesting.

Non-hex based, turned based, moddable, DRM-free. The graphics seem VERY simplistic (I will attach a YouTube impression video to this post).
