I may have found the hint of what is chasing the Vasari

I may have found the hint of what is chasing the Vasari

Or at least an example of their own language.

I came across this while examining the texture for the nanite swarms spawned by the Rankulus. I do not believe it is actually used on the mesh anywhere.

Unfortunately, I am terrible at figuring out what these kind of character may be, but even to me it seems a few look like E's or R's. Maybe someone better at such things can actually read it.

Unless one of us has an advanced alien decoding device (assuming that this language was just made up by Ironclad), then I would say that our best bet is to get this out to as many people as possible and hope somebody recognizes it.

Some Starclad texture artist is probably laughing their ass off right now....

If I had to guess, I'd say this was just unused texture...probably was originally going to go in the middle (like a "belt" for the sphere) but then they decided no one would see it given the size so no point in using it (or making something similar for the other spheres)...

Probably, but again, who knows. The cool thing about all this is hey, we MAY be onto something, at least until told otherwise by Yarlen and crew. I'll keep thinking on it and we'll see how it all shakes out.

I can dream...

sooo i think its just a pattern- it looks like there's allot of copy and paste, and they just mirrored it and rotated it...

or due to the slash in the middle it might be a name of a file where something is hidden..... :\

Arrows like that are used in Aurebesh.  See post #18.  You might be onto something.  Maybe the wrote it in Aurebesh and the randomly erased bits and pieces to make it harder.  I also wondered why about 7/8 characters from the end there looks like two E's, but they are different widths.

It has always been my plan to take over. My task was just made easier by the fact you're hardly ever around anymore.  ;)

Even now, you are too late, nothing will stop me from reaching 400 karma and becoming overlord of the forums! }:)

Just saying guys, there are similar signs on the Rankulas capital ship too, maybe that ship is part of the puzzle too, so if you want to analize these signs don't forget that capital ship too.

GOA!

your karma plans will be subverted.

I will boost sinperium up to outrageous karma levels and he will dominate the forums! MUAHAHAHAHA

Any chance we can track down the texture artist? Maybe we can interrogate them. O:)

I seriously think if its not in the coding its in the errors. B/c most of the textures were done 3rd party I think.

And it was said it be hard for us modders to find it....where else could we not figure it out quickly? :P

Hmmm, maybe some kind of Vasari alphabet?

Pros:

- approximately 26 "letters" (if you count them as shown in the opening post)

- none of these "letters" look the same (they look similar, but not the same)

Cons:

- not provable if no further texts are found

- difficult to separate the "letters" from each other

- totally guess-based thesis

Just a guess...

What if the full height vertical lines are word breaks?

Good luck to anyone actually attempting to decipher it, because I could only find 1 good case of a 'letter' repetition (arguments can be made for more, but nothing clearcut due to the different size at the top compared to the bottom).

Edit: whoops, didn't see page 2 of comments... boy do I feel dumb...

then there are places with at least 3 single letter words in a row... I would at least assume it still has english grammar if it is translatable.

True enough I suppose. There are single letter words in the english language though. :-P

A and I are two that are ones that come to mind.

I was just playing Sins the other day and I noticed the Rankulas had these same markings all over it. And the Nanite Swarms actually do use the texture - it is just really, really tiny.

So maybe this is just a style thing on the Rankulas and its swarms? Or maybe the ship and the swarms are the answer to what is chasing the Vasari. I hope for the latter.

Has anyone pulled up the markings on the Rankulas?

I think these are only visual things, we would need supercomputers to break these codes as noone has a slight idea what kind of signs these are, so I don't think this is the solution, but if someone has apps to break coding, then it's fine :D I'm curious what will be the answer.

I have programs for breaking codes, its just no one has managed to accurately figure out what those letters might be. Not even a supercomputer can do that.  ;)
