Need help installing an mpeg 2 decoder

I have the media center plugin installed and powerdvd 12 ultra installed but I still cannot use mpeg-2 files for dreams. What do I need to do to get this working? I thought both of these packages would have the codec needed...

What dream? some of mine and the MasterBaron's aren't working due to a non-standard resolution issue.

If it's mine, post the names and I'll try to get them fixed.

Solar Flare and Asteroids are two examples... got a ton of them but those are the only two I've tried...

Check to see if you have Windows update KB2670838 installed. If so, remove it, reboot and try Asteroids again. That particular dream stopped working for me and others until the update was removed.

i found the update but there's no option to uninstall it.

parasite, astroids, utopia prime are the only dreams that are not working

You will need to contact the artist to see if they can re-encode the dream.

I use klite codec pack which worked for me.  I have windows 8 pro x64 so I had to download the x64 codec pack as well.

Please be careful if you choose to install the klite codec pack as it will change how video/audio files are played on your computer!

You can look up "mpeg2 codec" in google and start your research there.

the reason you get that is because you are using an N edition of windows 8. check if you have in windows start menu an app called music or one called video. if you don't, you probably have to install a windows 8 non-N edition.

I've had the same issue with Masterbaron dream's and have written him to find out what mpeg2 file he was using since I've also loaded the Klite codec pack as well as downloaded other mpeg2 files looking for a work around. Loaded Powerdvd 12 from Stardock recommendation...didn't work.

I'm on Windows 7 Pro x64 and also have Win 8 Pro x64, but haven't tried it on there yet.

I didn't figure there would be sooo many variations for mpeg2 codec! Would be nice if Stardock had it posted for download with known dreams requiring it.

I use shark007 codec pac if your running 64bit os you will need to first install the 32bit pac first then install the 64bit pac. It runs with win7 or 8

i had this problem, and sharks has been working great, until recently.  now i get those messages again about no decoder, aggravating
