Hi again people of soase. I have come to you in need once more  :\ :\ :\ :\

What counters repulse and illum spam as tec loyalist? should i build a crazy number of corvettes or bombers? anticipate an advent fleet  accompanied by titan and cap ship with 70 illums and 20 guardians. somethign like that.

Build LRMs

Sounds like a bad idea..... LRM do quite poor against massed Illuminators.....

Long range frigates are generally countered by fighters, corvettes and heavy cruisers. Due the the illuminators 3 directional beams corvettes have a harder time against them compared to LRM or Kanrak.

That leaves Heavy Cruisers, however those are hard countered by the enemys Titan.

It is probably best to invest in carriers..... keep them kiting and first use bombers to destroy the enemy Titan... once that is done.... switch to fighters do deal with the illuminators.

Alternativly you can throw a juicy starbase in their way.... Illuminators are terrible against singular hard targets and assuming you are facing an Eradica it wont take down an Starbase easily on its own. Especially if hat starbase is supported by your fleet.

If you face a Coronata however, dont bother with starbases.... Unity Mass will downright crush those.

Uh... what? LRMs have longer range and better focus fire, the only way Illums stand a chance is if they close in to use their side beams, which defeats the whole point of repulse.

Again, if he's having issues with repulse Heavy Cruisers are the worst thing to build due to short range.

Well, you have a bit of an issue here. While he has not carrier support, fighters will work best against the Illums, while bombers work better for the caps and titan. So you've got to choose which is more important to destroy first if you go carriers.

Also I haven't check, but I assume Corvettes are affected by repulse? If they're not, just spam those things.

Thank you....

HCs and Corvettes will epically fail...repulse will throw them both out of their weapon ranges while the illuminators will still be able to hit them...the only frigate you can build that is going to do anything is the LRM....

Fighter/bomber spam only works well if you have time on your side or you prepare your fleet well in advance...the AM and time needed to build SC means you can't just build a carrier fleet in a pinch, and reinforcing your losses isn't easy (though in theory you shouldn't have many if you kite your carriers)...

If your opponent is doing illum spam still, I'm going to assume their titan probably isn't very high level (maybe level 3 at the most)...furthermore, you probably are coming off an early game fleet and thus don't have a lot of carriers to begin with...odds are then that LRMs are your best bet (though risky if it's a lvl 3 eradica)...

But, if their titan is high or even mid level, obviously any frigate other than a corvette is going to be utterly useless...and since illuminators and repulse will destroy corvettes, that forces you to build carriers...

If you can't do LRMs because of their titan level, you are only going to want to do bombers if you know you can make enough to actually do something....bomber spam, snipe the cap (especially if it's a prog or halcyon) and the guardians...without malice or energy aura, the illuminators won't be as bad to deal with and you can start spamming your corvettes...focus everything you have (bombers and possibly corvettes) on their titan and at least get it to run away...without support (malic, flak, ec.) the illuminators will fall to the corvettes (though expect heavy losses)...

If you know you can't get enough bombers to do anything, go fighters and kite/retreat/run as necessary...micro the fighters to kill off illuminators when you get the chance, avoid giving XP to their titan, and see if you can get some XP for whatever cap(s) you have (hopefully a marza)...

Really the ideal fleet would be bomber spam with a level 6 marza...the bombers kill the guardians, caps, and hit the titan while MB deals with the slow moving illuminators....of course, if you had a level 6 marza then you probably wouldn't be asking this question in the first place....

Wow, you guys are very helpful and insightful. (no sarcasm) In this match, everything was fine until he reverie-ed my level 6 marza after i jumped in to kill his advent loyalist titan; i had chased it away form pirate base and put my own titan there (ankylon)

I lost a lot of fleet and my marza but i took out his titan. I then retreated to a grvity well i had spammed 40 heavy kodiaks to use against illuminators.

His first attack was crushed. during the downtime i rebuilt a huge number if vets and started construction of carriers, thinking that surely would be my opponents counter to kodiak spam. but it wasnt

He jumped in with 70 illums, 14 gaurdians, and a level 2 coronata. I had 7 carriers by then and  immediately built 13 more. but Seleuceia wiselt pointed out-------

"Fighter/bomber spam only works well if you have time on your side or you prepare your fleet well in advance...the AM and time needed to build SC means you can't just build a carrier fleet in a pinch"

and so i was crushed. still won the game tho !!  ^_^
