WindowBlinds for Windows 8

WindowBlinds for Windows 8

Come on, it's been months now!

When will we get WindowBlinds for Windows 8? Windows 8 has been released for a couple of months now.

Not only WindowBlinds, how about other software in the Object Desktop for which I paid and can not use?!

Many of us have paid a yearly subscription and for those of us who 'upgraded' to Windows 8 upon release, and those who had the beta versions for longer, we have not been getting our money's worth!

Please please please Stardock, get WindowBlinds and other Object Desktop software working in Windows 8.

"We apologize for the inconvenience"
A forum search for that will no doubt find Zubaz first and foremost. As much, or as little, help that you need, Aaron tries to deal with it...patiently and courteously.   Note that I said tries. If somebody can and will say they have gotten Perfect Customer Service from anywhere, well, count yourself as lucky. You won't get that here. You get a genuinely caring community and site and support personnel that will try to  fix everything they can but there is no way anyone can fix everything or always please everyone. Not one direct, to the pont,   genuine concern or support issue  has EVER been made light of. I am going to just fade away now. Bye,y'all, take  care.

Good morning!  Today's a wonderful day to not have our favorite Windows customization tool released.

I wouldn't think so...I doubt anything is left in 8 to change to make it any more difficult....;)

Just a reminder...this is still in the 'support forum' so discussing other software isn't an option...;)

I asked the Magic 8 Ball about WindowBlinds coming out today.  I got "Outlook looks hazy" followed by "Get a life."

Here's where we're at with Object Desktop on Windows 8:

Start8 (obvious works)
Decor8 (Obviously works)
DeskScapes 8 (new version supports Windows 8)
WindowFX 5 (supports Windows 8)
IconPackager (works on Windows 8)
Fences (v2 works on Windows 8)
Tiles (works on Windows 8)
ModernMix (obviously works on Windows 8)
IconPackager (works on Windows 8)

That leaves WindowBlinds which is proving very difficult on Windows 8 because Microsoft eliminated Aero.  And I don't just mean the assets, they actually eliminated the underlying UX engine that used to do nice things like blur windows and such.
........

I didn't see Tiles or IconPackager listed on the ObjectDeskop list of software.....Do they come with a paid substcription? :\

Also, I read all 5 pages of this thread.  It IS Microsofts OS, they can and have done with it what they want.  They took the bulk and fat out and gave us a very stable OS.  I am surprised that so many people here seem to be more about the "bling".  Form over function is never a good idea.

I'm just glad Stardock can cure my "bling" cravings, even though MS choose not to.

And this is a thread that's not support related. Why don't you move it to a forum that's a little less restrictive?

Yes they do :https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/information.asp

In addition Object Desktop users get a host of other programs to enhance Windows such as Decor8, DesktopX 3, DesktopX 4, IconDeveloper, Keyboard Launchpad, LogonStudio, SkinStudio Professional, Sound Packager, Theme Manager, Tiles, Tweak7, and more

Because it's still 'support related'.

That is till your main PC  borks up/dies and your new PC gets shipped with Win8 preinstalled. >_>
Cause that is how I ended up with Win8.  <_<

Hey you could always install win7 over the top of it, lol

 Wow, I was surprised to see what all came with my subscription.  WAY more than I was expecting.   Good thing I have another windows 7 computer and an Vista laptop that can use some of the stuff my main Windows 8 can't use!

What a pleaseant surprise.  I hope teh quaility of the software is as good as Start8 and MediaMix.

Object Desktop is well worth the money. even with out windowblinds that's not to say I don't want windowblinds. I'm just saying all the software you get is well worth the price. updates' betas' can't go wrong.

Is it possible to get an estimate of how far into testing WinBlinds 8 is?  I'm a developer, so I know that giving a 50% complete may not budge for a week or more because of having to find the cause of the error.

I also won't be surprised if there's no response to avoid having other people take a comment out of context.

I can't wait for this. I love Windowblinds. I've been coming back, checking for WB8 since December....or actually BEFORE December. I go through different periods, like a druggie. Sometimes I go 1 or 2 months without checking...sometimes i check daily. This is very frustrating. My two favorite softwares (Cant mention other since not Stardock's) have been in the work since the release of Win8.  It has been an almost identical process (both softwares) I pray for the day that the featured posts "read "WB8 released" instead of the MANY "X company reviews Start8. They say it's great!"

Next month is June. Half a year...8 months since Win8 release. Getting a bit ridiculous.

Thanks for the hard work tho!
