Dual Boot Windows 8

Page fault in non paged area......

Guys, anyone using Win8 in a dual boot scenario?

 

I have a Dell Inspiron One 19 touch screen AIO.

It came with 7, I added 8.

 

About 50% of the time, it won't reboot out of 7 and into 8. It will however cold boot directly into 8.

 

When booting out of 7 and into 8, I get a blue screen with the message that "Windows8 didn't start correctly, we're gathering some information and will reboot."

(something close to that)

Then it'll give a swirly thing and say checking for problems, then it'll say attempting repairs for a long time.

 

Then the dreaded "page fault in non paged area".

 

Help?

this happend out of nowhere or did you install anything...
( it will cold boot into windows8- well if it is still set as main bootup under msconfig/systemstart it will do so )
to the problem with the page fault in non paged area / is there any more info ?

It ma be a combination of 2 things. The system reservered is 350Mb that can get damaged. Also turn off fast boot option in windows 8 power settings. This may help. I had this too on my dual boot the only way to fix it properly is to make a 350 mb system reserved. Delete all other partitions. Install win 7. Then create a 2nd partition & install win8 into that.

As i said, I had exactly the same. the above method was the only way to fix it properly.  I now haw a properly working win7/8 dual boot. Hope this helps.

page fault in non paged area doesnt it throw out any more information or is it just rebooting right after ? Do you have any external drives connected ? As far as i know you just recently made that setup on that desktop could it be that you installed NetFramework lately or updated any motherboard specific drivers.sorry for asking again

All updates done. Mobo drivers for 7, none yet for 8.

No externals, etc.

 

No extra info. Maybe in event viewer. I never could make sense out of the event viewer.

Mhk i just asked bc i had a similar problem with windows 8 and motherboard utilities 
did you try booting up 7 and restarting into windows 8 safemode ?
Its all guessing at this point without a specific Page fault error code.. or wait for yrag  
PS: in event viewer go to user defined/Admin - it should show you a list of warnings and critical errors search for the latest.

I have to say, I wish I had read this message before stumbling onto the solution myself.   In the end, I had to kill Windows 8 and the System Reserve partition on my Windows 7 drive, then use the Windows 7 install CD to repair the bootloader.  

I absolutely hate the new Windows 8 "fast bootloader".   It is anything but fast.   Text for a boot loader is just fine, we don't need no stinkin GUI to choose an OS.

Yup! I even have a really big can of popcorn. white cheddar, caramel and regular buttery. Too much for one person. Hold your hands out.
