[>>Stardock FE Modding Library now up<<]

We've added a section on WinCustomize.zom where modders can upload and manage their FE mods.

If there's sufficient interest (i.e. sufficient content uploaded) we'll integrate the gallery into the game.

Thanks! This is a nice surprise.

Edit: hmmm how do you delete old mods from the list?

Very nice, uploading Stormworld now.

Frogboy, the old E:wom library was limited because if you downloaded a lot, you had to log in to download stuff (this was a way to make sure that only people who bought the game could get to the mods). Now we have Steam players that don't necessarily have a Stardock account (or FE registered to any account). Are those players going to face similar walls, or is the library "free for all"?

Awesome. Can't wait until people start uploading maps. I'll be all over it.

Actually, I think I'll upload the map I've made sometime this weekend. I'll need to add quests first though, as I was playing without them and they seem to count as "objects" (I set the spawn no objects flag).

Master's Affliction should be up.

Looking much better with a full page this morning!

One thing I don't get is if I have version 1.0 up on the site and people can download it, that's fine. And then I edit the entry and upload another file. Now people can't download it anymore? They can't download 1.0 because it's not there anymore, and they can't download the next version until it's been "approved"?

I modified your acccess HF so that when you update your mods it bypasses moderation.

Can I get the special access too please?

It would make sense for everyone who's on the "Top Elemental: Fallen Enchantress" list could automatically get that ability.

Not really, if you consider the reason they don't just put everything up there right away.

This is going to make me sound like a douche so wear your kindest reading glasses please.

The point of not approving everything instantly is that they can't trust everything that gets uploaded. They need to manually go through it to look for illegal stuff and harmful stuff. I guess Frogboy "trusts" me because I've been modding E:wom/FE for over two years. So really it's a matter of establishing a positive record.

So the reason they don't just approve everything immediately is because they don't want to approve everything immediately.

Edit: for the record, I still need to go through an approval process. So no special treatment.

I personally prefer that SD review all mods before making them available.

And Heavenfall and Sean have been doing enough modding that their mods can be trusted.

Maybe not my new mod:

Star Wars: Twilight of Aladdin and the Sorcerer's Stone.

I'm getting a bit pissy about the approval process. It's been more than 24 hours now that my mod Stormworld has been unavailable because of it. What's the point of having a mod library like this if we aren't going to use it because of this process?

Thought they had you setup to bypass that?

No, but even if they did how would that solve the problems for others? I see seanw3 linking to mediafire for example, which just means that the mods aren't all in the library. These problems should be ironed out for those that follow, special access for me is no solution at all.

I wonder what the process even entails. Does someone physically go through the files?

I've had to put up a new version quickly to fix critical bugs in the past, so I'm pretty sure they're not being tested in game. If not, then wouldn't some kind of automated virus/malware scan do the trick? That wouldn't take 24 hours to perform, and modders can get critical new updates out quicker.

Agreed, we need to get the process figured out.  It needs to be minutes, not days before something is available.

agreed, and it has been similar since 2009, which is WHY I do not put my sins utilities and reference files in wincustomise.

I don't have an easy solution.  We need some sort of moderation system. Believe me, you should see the stuff that gets submitted.

I'm sure some kind of moderation is needed. Is there some way we can streamline this?

What's the typical rules for allowing/disallowing an upload?

I want examples of the "stuff" that gets submitted... }:)

Well, I'll use it as a backup, but not my main way of distribution then. If people are willing to wait, they can also get it from the mod library. Not a huge deal.
