SSD and WEI

How can it be?

How can it be that I upgraded my SSD to a 256 GB sata III, upgraded my MOBO to a sata III, yet I get the same disk data transfer rate score as I did with a smaller sata II SSD on a sata II MOBO?  Even upgraded my power supply.

Oh, I neglected to set the BIOS to AHCI before installing my OS, so I'm in IDE mode, but so was the sata 2 SSD and sata 2 mobo.

So....what'd he have you do?...;)

He had me make a registry tweak:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_System_CurrentControlSet_Services_Msahci

Change the "Start" value to "0"

Re-Boot into Bios and change to "AHCI"

Save, boot to Windows.

Your actual disk speed will improve over time as Trim is implemented. "

But then, I got the dreaded error:

"BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl Alt Del to restart"

So, I had to perform a start up repair.

Now my Windows 8 dual boot won't boot, but my main OS wait for it.........................................................wait for it..................................................

Windows 7 is saved....I can reinstall 8.

I'd send you a PM, but I'm afraid I'd be somewhere between ill-mannered and tasteless.......

In deference to the fact that this is a public forum, might I simply inquire; are you fuckin' simple minded or just shit stupid???

If you're giving me shit for dual booting, it doesn't slow the boot process down that much (3 seconds, to be exact). 8 was on a platter drive, btw.

Added 8 GB ram, no change.

I'm not sure if you are flat silly to dual boot Win 8 or very, very brave to risk Yrag writing you a private message about how silly you are. (polite writing mode on)

You could get those two graphics scores up to max 7.9 like mine....cost me almost a grand, though...;)

It would likely cost me a marriage...hehe.  8C
