To Beta Testers: Readying for today’s release!

Greetings!

Today’s the big day. In fact, 2 hours from now 1.0 will go live.

Now, to save yourself pain and aggravation please do the following: UNINSTALL the beta. Completely.  That also means go into the my games\fallen enchantress directory and rename it to something else (or delete it entirely). Edit: ensuring that \program files (x86)\stardock games\FallenEnchantress is also cleaned out is a good sanity check from after the beta.

Don’t take any chances. Start from a clean setup.

And honestly, to the complainers about having to uninstall and reinstall, I say this as a fellow complainer:

Get over it. You're getting a free game that was made with love and concern. There are so many issues to complain about, this isn't one of them.

Let it go.

It's not often talked about but there's something around 100,000 people who are going to be getting this game for free and it matters a great deal to me that they are happy with it.

Well I'm only 1/100k but I'll let you know.  har har.

Seriously, I've been avoiding the betas for awhile now because I wanted to start fresh when the full release came.  Pretty exciting that it's finally here.  I've cleared my gaming calendar and I'm ready to go.  :)

What a ripoff I have to REINSTALL the WHOLE GAME AGAIN? I've already done this THREE times in the past trying to stay up with the BETA and now THIS? THIS IS A BAD WAY TO START OFF ANEW! You know how long it takes to REDOWNLOAD and REINSTALL this 3GB game with only 3.0mb per second download speed and that's at PEAK performance. There's going to be literally thousands trying to redownload and install this game today. FAIL FAIL FAIL.....this will go badly for you in review scores. Just wait and see!

lolz

As an MMO beta teter -> buyer, this is industry standard.  Not sure why you are twiggin'

yeah thats why I only played the last beta for an hour. I want everything to be fresh and go in with a clear mind and not worry about the quality. I was happy with what I saw. The AI monsters killed me and I lost. I was playing on easy.

This game already made me feel like I had to rethink my strategies regarding 4x games in only an hour.

Buyer, maybe you shouldn't play BETA games (for no additional cost and at no additional commitment).

Will do.  Looking forward to firing this up after work.  I'm pretty excited about the campaign.  Fingers crossed.

There was no way for me to uninstall the beta, no uninstall executable in the folder, CCleaner wouldn't recognize it, Add/Remove Programs in Windows 7 didn't show it, so I monkeyed around and deleted anything with Elemental or FE in RegEdit.

If that doesn't work and I have problems, I'll probably just reformat and de-bloat again or see if you have any suggestions.

Ah, crap... really?  So I guess leaving my computer on to download the beta while I'm at work was a waste even if one of your earlier posts suggested that we could update from the beta to final.

Yeah, earlier you wrote, "Around 1pm EST on October 23, the game will be released.  If you order it sooner, it'll be the last Beta (0.99) and it'll upgrade to the 1.0 version."

I guess this is no longer the preferred method for acquiring the final version of the game.

On a different note:

"It's not often talked about but there's something around 100,000 people who are going to be getting this game for free and it matters a great deal to me that they are happy with it."

Wow, that few?  I thought War of Magic had sold better.

that post was made at 11:30 edt so 2 hours would be 1:30 edt defnitly around 1pm

Well, I guess I'll probably be picking this game up later today and letting it download tonight. Not sure if it's exactly for me (have never played any games like this) but I figure I'll give it a shot. It certain looks fun judging by the AAR that were put up by the Dev team. :D

100,000 is a lot. What would you do with $4 million ? ;)

But I do understand, as sale numbers go, 100,000 is small compared to a gaming community of 20 million.

Deleted those files, thanks for the heads up. Getting my download now!

Man those servers are taking a big hit right now.  :banhammer:

Download in progress (1.5 hours!?), but I can't get past a "Could not access network location NO$KEY" error on the Beta uninstall. Here's hoping stardock support isn't too busy with the launch today to help me out...

download has started ftw :D

Yeah, imagine 100.000 people downloading at once  :dur:  (9 hours to go for me).

Has FE 1.0 already uploaded to Steam? There was a bunch of nasty issues with release dates with XCOM:EU for example

It is about 45 minutes for me to download

Stardock does DD, so they don't have to abide by street dates - so they can release globally/simultaneously, which has pretty much been their policy over the years.

I'm unsure if exchange rate parity is still Stardock's policy, but I know it was in the past- which made Aussies happy.

Uninstalled the game via Win 7's add/remove programs....however there was no file folders of any description matching the ones in the OP for local content also needing deletion....possibly due to my having installed the last beta but never gotten around to starting any games/creating any saves?

Hopefully all will still be well when I try to download the full version this weekend or something, otherwise if anybody can steer me torwards things still needing deletion I'd appreciate it----had all the betas installed in an ElementalFE folder on the C drive itself, that has been cleaned out in full.
