Who wants to help me? :)

I am looking for one person to (volunteer to) help with the artwork on a table-top game I am making. You will, obviously, get a mention and be able to place a small signature on all artwork appearing on cards, etc... I have the basic framework down, card layout completed, etc... I also have artwork design ideas, which I will share. I believe we can make a remote relationship work and should this game come together and be salable, I will surely profit share. Failing that, perhaps there could be a Steam game in it for you. Obviously, if I could afford to pay outright, I'd just hire someone :)

Requirements:

-Be able to provide an initial (small) portfolio

-Be able to CLEARLY ink sketch fantasy artwork (think AD&D Monster Manual + Munchkin) in a 1.5"x2" space

-Be able to combine the humorous and the gruesome in your artwork

-Be able to work at least 1-2 hours per week and provide a summary by Sunday

-Perhaps be able to use a voice program should we deem it necessary to communicate via said medium

-Be able to have fun collaborating on this project

I am putting this up here, first, before I cross post to Craigs and other places because I like this community and wish to give it a chance.

Thank you,

Mark (EviliroN)

Sure is a lot of requirements for a job that might or might not pay.

Well, that is because you are thinking of it as a job. I never addressed it as a job. In fact, I called it help. Also, 3 requirements is a lot?

Anyway, thanks for the input.

Hello, me and my brother in law have produced a boardgame and may be able to help you.  I have no artistic ability, but may be able to help in other ways.  I can use photoshop to help with any of the layout, etc.. I did the instruction manual, etc.. Our game was T.P.O.C. which you can find on BGG.  Let me know if we can help at all.

Pay peanuts...get monkeys.

You're going to have to document some form of 'real' incentive scheme [payment] or you are more than likely doomed to failure...;)

@Nomorebeef

Thank you very much, I checked your game out, it looks interesting. I may just buy it. I will keep you in mind.

@Jafo

Yes, I understand that. However, I have actually had 4 volunteers, all with skill more than I need, and have settled on one with my friend helping with all Photoshop (he's an art teacher). I also already have the game in alpha testing (don't really need artwork for that).

Have you released a game before?  If not, we can help you with that as well.  Whatever you do, don't order more than 500 copies to start off with.  We have about 1200 left of our 2000 copy run sitting in alliances' warehouse that we can't get rid of.  Are you on kickstarter?

good luck on the project!

Thank you for the encouragement. No I am not on kickstarter. I do not want public funding and I do not want to commit to a timeline. I am currently a (returning) full time student and work full time also, therefore, this has all been done in my free time (OK and on the clock at work). I have not released a game before but I have been published, so I do know a bit about the copyright/trademark industries. I also have a few local game stores that have committed to carrying a small amount whenever it is available.

Cool.  Good luck then.  If you need any help or advice (like on stuff NOT TO do) :grin: give me a holler.
