Fallen Enchantress key be redeemable on Steam?

Us who who bought War of Magic...

I Pre-Ordered Elemental:War of Magic back in the day, and we were told we would receive Fallen Enchantress for free.

No, they won't be redeemable there.

Well, any chance for a reduced price if we want to buy it from Steam instead?

I bought the game when Stardock owned/ran Impulse, not GameStop. I assume my money when to you guys, not them.

Since Stardock games are now available at Steam, I was hoping you would take with you your customers too.

If you pre-ordered War of Magic from us, then you already have access to FE directly from us, client-free if you so choose. There is no need to use GameStop at all.

Ah, I thought the Stardock download page was for the beta only!

Great! Thanks!

So if i understand you right. Since I own and can download FE from Stardock Central, I won't be able to activate it in Steam??

Correct.

You can add it as a third party game if you want to just launch it from Steam or have their overlay features, but updates would have to come from Stardock rather than Steam.

Why is this? Why are you unable to offer a steam key for the game? is it the serial key not compatible with steam's system?

I do not personally know the details, but thats the situation and I expect it to remain that way.

Ultimately this is a free game to people who purchased WoM prior to a set date and none of those purchases happened via Steam, so its not like you are losing anything you had before.

Downloading via SDC or from the website isn't exactly the end of the world.

If you really really really must have a Steam code then you always have the option to buy it on Steam, either now, or possibly in the distant future when I am sure it will be on sale as everything ends up on sale eventually!

Thank you for the feedback. I'm not saying it's a big deal, but i enjoy having things secure in steam. I hope the next game they can hopefully implement that as Sword of the Stars works that way and i do love being able to get my game from any digital distributor.
