Worldwide events: any log of ones that have happened?

A screen appears, signalling a worldwide event, like the appearance of an enemy that forces everybody else to unite, etc.  But you're clicking something else in the meantime, and that screen is gone before you can read it.  Is there any in-game log to see what conditions the event have set in place?

Yeah, I've mentioned that one; though it was with the opening book backstory. Clicking outside of the message box closes the box. Very frustrating imo. Should have to click the 'close' button.

Also apparently the AI can get events and then you don't see any info, but can still get attacked by the monsters.

No, nothing shows about it, once past that intro screen.
