[hopeful wish] Map markers

Currently, I don't think there is an option to place map markers (places I would like to note on the map). I know its late in the beta, but would it be possible to place our own map markers on the cloth map? (little flag pins that when high-lighted shows up some info that we wrote there)

I'm not asking for a delay, but maybe a future patch to implement this feature (unless it already exists and I can't find it).

Great idea.

It would be so useful, especially on large maps, to be able to mark locations of fertile land, where you first encountered a new race, locations of big nasties, strategy notes for when you load up a save game, multi-player coop games, etc.
