And always retreat to the best come-back ever if someone calls you out on your bullshit:

"I was being ironic/sarcastic"

A great way to diffuse a raging Internet troll.

And a great way to CONfuse a redneck.    :moo:

When diffused, the Internet Troll passes through a membrane into another partition... *poof - problem gone.

When defused, the Internet Troll is neutralized... *poof - problem gone.

When confused, the redneck becomes more amusing... *poof - problem gone.

So... every way, WIN! :)

My wife and youngest daughter love to use; “I was just joking!” And yes they troll me and each other all the time.

Again, I'm kinda 'worried' about the comments on the site/source.  I really 'hope' they're not fair-dinkum....;)

Correction.... problem still here, just more amusing.

I don't really like this flowchart. It disregards the possibility of a person thoroughly reading and assessing the situation and still hanging around for discussion. Or for insults, as the case may be.

I've seen enough political flame wars to know that it's extremely rare for the people discussing it to have actually read what's going on fully.

Besides that, anyone who gets "angry" about a discussion on the Internet should probably find something else to do.

The stuff from the Trayvon Martin case would be a good example of that.  People were sending Zimmerman death threats and there was a bounty put on him and how many people had bothered to actually look at the facts?  I have no idea what the courts will decide with him. I do know that I'm not going to expend energy hating on Zimmerman one way or the other.

And let's remember, the media has its own agenda in these kinds of things.  We get played a 911 call tape where they ask him to quit following Trayvon and people latch on to that.

Good point.  I'm one of those guys that find it hard to convict anyone of anything unless there's indisputable visible evidence and even then I have a hard time.  Videos can be doctored... my own eyes can play tricks on me.  I still think O.J. is innocent.  8C Anyway, I might be getting off-topic, but you bring up a good point about politics.  Ever read the comments section of a political article posted on the Internet?  Republicans are the worst people in the world.  Democrats are the worst people in the world.  Who's left?  Most of us are just sheep blowing in the wind.  Hats off to you Brad and others who can stay sane despite all the forces working against you/us.

Then again, even in real life you seldom get to know all the facts. If no one ever weighed in without knowing all the details, discussion would be scarce.

Did I just read that you're implying that the media is biased? Never!!!!!  The media is the only honest thing left that's available to us.

Okay, not really.  Just playing.

That is certainly true.  I don't think the guy's comic is designed to be some holy writ. ;) But I think that worst and most common heated discussions on the net are by people who have no idea what they're talking about (Trayvon Martin case as an example).  They're BETTER than reading!

I must be one of those lucky people.  I never get mad about anything on the internet.  Don't get mad about much in real life, for that matter.  It could be that when the madness truly set in, and the medicos declared me truly insane, living in my own cotton candy world made me somewhat immune to all the nastiness in the world.

Sure, there are things I dislike and disapprove of in the world but I simply don't have the energy or inkling to hate or get mad about something I can neither change or make better. To do so would make me a less compassionate person and far less pleasant, and I don't want to be that way.

I may not have been declared insane [as yet] but thank goodness for my cotton candy world, where I can retreat to ponder much happier things. It mightn't make much sense to some folks, but more of 'em ought to try it... there'd be a lot less unpleasantness in the world if'n they did.

;)

Perhaps we hang out in different places, but I find that people who fail to read posts are the exception rather than the rule.

Well yes, that got a bit out of hand. Do remember that most people assume the media is more or less accurate and don't really think about the manipulation of facts that media tends to indulge in. While you could argue that this is just as bad, it is nonetheless a form of naivety rather than the sloth of simply not reading a person's argument.

I don't hold the media responsible for the behavior their readers. They exist to maximize page views. It's not their job to be "Fair". It's up to readers not to be total morons. The Trayvon Martin case is such a good example of that. You can blame NBC's editing all you want but people flipped out with virtually no data to go on.

I used to have a lot of faith in the judgment of the average person and therefore cared about public opinion.  But I've had enough years to see that it doesn't really matter one way or the other. And I've seen that the I greatly over estimated the quality of judgment in people I used to respect.

There's a lot of miserable SOB's out there and convincing themselves that other people are shitty is pretty much all they've got going for them.

There should be a media that exists to inform people of what happened when they couldn't be there to see it themselves.  Not to spin it or maximize page views.

Nah, I reckon the media should present 3 or 4 versions and make it a multiple choice thing... you know, a, b, c or d

Well we already get that sort of thing, actually... it's just on different channels news, that's all.

For mine, I reckon we do away with all the different news programs and just keep a handful of 'journalists' to present the various versions of bullshit on the one news program on one channel.

The only drawback with that is all the empty time slots they'd fill with feching reality and lifestyle crap. >:(

I just recently watched this on flix, and must admit for a tv series it was rather well written.

Well, I was certainly enjoying it, until the movie.  The movie was terrible, because I can totally see how awesome that plot line could have been over multiple seasons of little adventures.

Randomly Off Topic a bit, but I agree.

People get mad over the wierdest things.(Me too)  Generally, it takes blatant abuse to set me off though.  Or a person that's set me off a few times in the past.  Either way I generlly drop a few comments and leave if things escelate.  Not the best strategy, but occasionally I can't help myself.
