Vas Rebels: Devs will you fix them so people stop whining?

I love to play as VR, but everyone hates on them, and I'll admit that 27k for a SB is OP, and moving it with your titan is even worse. So can you buff others, or nerf VR so I can play them without people hating on me for it?

...You know, I'm just gonna go ahead and ask here...

Why do the rebels even have starbase mobilization, if the loyalists are all about mobility? xD

I asked that too.

And why can't the Advent Loyalist capture a planet with their titan ability and follow it right up with Wail of the Sacrificed--it would be so cool.

Actually normal colonization would be better since you would then get the bonus population to immediately use for wailing...

Yes...but I wouldn't get as much of a reaction from that.

I have an idea on how to propagate the idea of how underpowered/ overpowered certain things are. We come up with a scale, like a 1 to 10, except instead of using numbers, we'll use things from the game.

I.E. "Yarlen, on a scale of Deliverance Engine to Starbase Mobilization, how powerful do you see X (x being an ability, ship, even a whole race, etc) being after (insert patch number here)?" I was thinking 9 could probably be Chastic Burst/ Eradica, 8 could be Kultorask, etc etc.

Do the devs feel it's a problem is the question...

The whole balance issue would dry up if the star base was limited to jumping to planets with PHASE NODES only. Then it would go back to being a defensive star base with the ability to attack remotely with Kostura's or shock a reason to build and level the Antorak.

This of course would still be a HUGE bonus as few star bases would be needed to defend against incursions and will still support the lore of VR IMO.

Not a bad idea Zombie.  More gum for you.

Honestly with Mobile starbases now in the civic tree this idea is perfect.   Getting kostura AND jumping starbases would require the Vas rebels to maintain 16 labs, so most games it would just allow for defensive reallocation- Or if the Vas rebel player REALLY wants to use his starbase offensively maybe we'd see some interesting Marauder starts.

actually, limiting sb jumps to phase nodes was originally PlayerSlayer's idea.

If there's one thing I've learned as a modder, it's that most ideas are actually developed by many different people independently....there is no "so and so had it first"....

SELEUCEIA WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A SERIOUS CONTRIBUTION TO THIS THREAD

There is a research modifier StarBaseUpgradeMaxAdjustment that changes how many upgrades a faction's SBs can have....I'm not saying this is a good idea, but I see two possible things that could be done with this:

  • Starbase mobilization reduces number of upgrades SBs can have -- unfortunately, this affects all SBs (there is no "only those that can jump are weaker") and it doesn't prevent someone from fully upgrading SBs with 8 slots, then researching starbase  mobilization
  • Instead of phase jumping orkies, VR can have more upgrades per SB

There are of course many combinations of many things, especially if you plan to require certain upgrades for making individual Orkies jump capable...

@Devs...it'd be nice if this modifier changed the "x/8" in-game text that shows how many more upgrades you can put on your SB

They neglected to do the following

"Players can play the Vasari Rebels vs the Ai in the single player mode and have the ability to use Starbase Mobilization"

"This feature is disabled in multiplayer games"

The reason being because they thought the VR would loose their fundamental gameplay advantage.

The bad:

They do not want to nerf the crap out of this starbase to make it balanced.

Due to the overwhelming number of sarcastic responses (2) I'ma guess it was a joke.  :P
