One can only hope Harpo, and if they deliver. IronClad and Stardock should do the same thing for Sins 2. Develop a engine that is optimized for 64bit, multiple threading, blast the hell out of your enemies graphical awesomeness...

By going the Kickstarter route, they will have a firm hand on who want this, and one more thing, another form of distributorship other than Steam...

I don't understand your last point. Kickstarter doesn't distribute anything, so the hypothetical Sins2 would still likely be distributed through Steam.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

As John Mavor said in the yesterday's stream: "We are the best people to do this". Then he went on to list games him or members of his team worked on - TA, SupCom, SupCom 2, RA2, RA3, The Battle for Middle Earth 2, Demigod, C&C Generals... This is only a few omissions (Blizzard RTSs, SoaSE and AoE II) away from my RTS top 10.

I do have great faith I those guys :)

What only worries me a bit is how Mavor repeats all the time that PA is spiritual sequel to TA, not SupCom - I loved experimental units, shields, stealth (neither of which is priority for the team). At least he acknowledged importance of strategic zoom.

If you are worried when someone talk about taking inspiration from TA, then you are just too young. TA is the best RTS ever made.

I just don't see how TA is better than SupCom. SupCom is evolution of TA, expanding upon it, adding new options and improving UI. In my eyes, SupCom is just plain superior to TA.

I'm not saying taking inspiration from TA is wrong, it would just be better if they also incorporated the improvements from SupCom.

To clarify. If money is an issue, then using Kickstarter is a way to not only to gain capital, but also to gauge interest in said project.

As far as distributing, either in house like they did with original Sins or other then Steam. That was my wish, but more than likely, you are right about them staying with Steam...
