Got a political call 5 minutes after purchasing this game

I'm ready to call my lawyer.

I am furious.  I purchased this game through Steam and was required to enter my phone number as part of the billing address info for my credit card.

I got a call on my cell phone 5 minutes later where the person calling never spoke.  I did a reverse lookup of the number that called me and it turns out it's a political polling call center.

I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS.  I AM A FAN OF THE GAME, BUT I DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE CALLS OR HAVE MY NUMBER GIVEN OUT TO POLITICAL POLLING DATABASES.  I AM SHOCKED THIS WOULD/COULD HAPPEN.

I did not OK this crap.  I will be calling my lawyer should I receive any more political calls within the next 2 weeks.  I have never been solicited on my cell phone, and this happened within minutes of entering my information for purchasing this game.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.  YOU BETTER FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON STARDOCK.

We don't sell or give customer information to anyone.  It's the political season, phone calls are quite common.

Dude calm down! It's a coincidence. Political campaigns call daily especially places like Florida (battleground states) and not to mention all the pollsters...

5 minutes after purchasing this game?

I've never been solicited on my cell phone.  What a coincidence this happened 5 minutes after purchasing with my billing info/phone number.

Sorry, I'm not buying it.  The coincidence is too great.  I wont say "I'm sure it's Stardock" because I never gave my number to Stardock.  I DID however give it to Steam, who I have also contacted.

Perhaps Stardock had nothing to do with this.  I do think if others have this happen to them, that it is their responsibility to find out what is happening.

Feel free to write me off as some internet crazy until others speak up about this also.  I'm sure you will anyway.

If you didn't give us the phone number, we don't have it.

I always wear a tin-foil hat to keep the gov't from stealing my thoughts . . they can read phone numbers in brain waves.

LOL...LOOK OUT! We got a badass!

Let us all know how long it takes for your lawyer to stop laughing.

Been using steam for 2 years, no political calls ever, especially after buying a game. But I must be the exception.

If you registered to vote with that phone number, your number is public. Political campaigns calling are legally not considered solicitations, nor do they have to adhere to any "do not call" laws.

You seem to be really irritated about one phone call. Did it throw off your life that much? Are you really suffering as a result? The person on the other side of the phone didn't even speak to you, maybe they realized they dialed the wrong number.

I have a feeling you have worse problems than merely getting a phone call if you're that upset about this.

Call your lawyers, I'm sure they could use a good laugh today.

I'm guessing you're 100% correct liberal.  If I was you Mysterical, I would just say "You guys got me, my bad." and move on.  They've got you in the crushing vice-like grip of logic.

By the way Mysterical, your name is kinda funny in the context of your exasperated, almost frantic original posting.  Thanks for the chuckle.
