Unable to apply serial number for game; get silent failure

I'm trying to register my copy of Sins Trinity in Stardock Account Registration (I'm on Windows 8, x64 if it matters).  I fill in the appropriate fields, but am unable to register; hitting the register button has no effect.

 

I've tried running in compat mode, running as administrator, all to no avail.  Nothing in the event log, no errors, and no indications of why it's failing.  Help a poor guy out?

Windows 8 is still in beta/prerelease and is not currently supported. As a workaround, download this file: http://sd.stardock.com/sdactivate_legacy.zip

Extract the contents to the folder the game is installed in and overwrite any existing files. You should then be able to complete the registration process.
