Is it worth it?

I was one of the first people to buy sins back in 2008 and played constantly for about a year. Things happened, and i ended up stopinh playing. This was my favorite RTS's. Long story short how many people play online now a days and is it worth $60 dollars in order to get back into this franchise. I'd like to consider myself a good econ and frontline player (although I heard they nerfed illuminators/LRMs/assailants.) is that true?

All and all i have come back to this game after for years wanting more. The question is do people still play?

Uh Rebellion is $40, actually still $30 if you registered your original Sins game and order from this website. You only need to get Rebellion, the other expansions don't matter and are probably dead to multiplayer.

I don't play a whole lot but it still seems fairly active by Sins (admittingly low) standards. 100 games online seems common on weekends. Some balance problems may have frustrated some people but hopefully they'll periodically improve with patches.

There are good numbers in Multiplayer and as they sold out much more copies than for the older Sins games it is likely that it will stay that  way.

As you say 60 $ I suppose you are getting Trinity, too?

Buying Trinity makes sense if you want to use Mods that are only available on it and wont be ported in the near future.

Otherwise, it is well worth its money. :D

I was under the impression that rebellion was just an expansion. (lost my old sins copy and got a new computer)

Let me tell you the way of things. As Goa said, Rebellion is $30 if you have registered your Sins original and you buy from this site. If you lost the copy and the manual with the code on the back, well then I guess you will just have to shell out another $10.

Rebellion is a stand-alone expansion, which means that it does not need any of the other expansions or the original game to run. Actually, it includes all of the content from the original game and the two micro-expansions, Diplomacy and Entrenchment. This means that Rebellion is like the ultimate edition of Sins, containing every bit of content from the original, the two micro-expansions and then Rebellion.

Also, I should mention that Rebellion has a lot of new and improved stuff in it and I would urge you to buy this as it improves upon Trinity in almost every way possible apart from removing the limits of the Iron Engine (graphics, AI, multiplayer, balance, titans, more capitals, corvettes, dwarf planets, more music, new UI, new background for the main menu, other cool stuff I can't think of right now)

There is also a GREAT collector's edition being sold on this site for Rebellion. Check it out:

Enjoy this awesome game and welcome back to the Sins community, franown.

It is, but its stand alone. You don't need to have Entrenchment or Diplomacy, nor would you gain much by buying them.

If you had your game registered it doesn't matter what happened to it. And unless you quite playing Sins very early on, you probably had to register to get the updates for multiplayer.

I should point out you need to get Rebellion before the collectors edition. The collectors edition is just an upgrade for the goodies, it doesn't include a game registration, even though it comes with a disc.

Oh yeah. Sorry for not mentioning that.

Not so much nerfed as deployed a new weapon that handles LRFs quite well.

I had thought that Diplomacy was pretty dead, too.  But then I logged on two weekends ago and saw 110+ people online for it.  So, it might be viable on weekends.

I'm in the same situation as franown. I was one of the first buyers back in the day but then stopped playing. I am currently trying to get back into the swing of things.

But just a quick question- TRINITY + Rebellion = REBELLION yes?

So it not actually worth buying both TRINITY and REBELLION. I could just buy REBELLION?

Rebellion has all the content--no need to buy Trinity separately.  Also, if you own a previous version of Trinity registered with a Stardock account, you get $10 off.
