Dragon Quest bug?

This is my first time playing beta since beta 2. I am not sure if this is the masterquest or not but I visited 3 dragon shrines. The first two I visited, I acquired a dragon's eye. When I visited the third, and placed the eyes into the dragon statue, I was told I am not the lord of dragons. I choose to fight and died a quick death by a dragon stack. Before I attempted to fight the pack again, I used the tornado spell to separate out the dragons and fight them one by one. After I killed the last one, I got nothing.

So my question is, should I have gotten something for defeating the dragons? If so, maybe using tornado on them and fighting them one at a time is the cause. I was close to the water.. maybe one got flung out to sea, but I counted and thought I got them all.  I have a save right before I fought them so I can try it again.

I think failing the first time ends the quest. Then you are still left with the army of dragons.

Just to add to that, it would be great in game if there were some notification that the quest had failed or which were active.

If you succeed you get a pet Ashwake dragon. If you're powerful enough to beat a flock of those things, you probably don't need a pet dragon! Like all the wildlife in the game, they have strengths and weaknesses. Check the stats and make sure you're properly equipped before taking them on.

I fought them today and used the Escape Spell when they were busting me up. So I cast all my enviormentals on them, drank some heal pots, and attacked them again and won mostly due to the Contagion Spell. Never thought to use it first time, then again second time they were Frozen so I had like 3 turns before they reached me in the back.

What I got for winning was a helmet with + 6 to spell resist. :rolleyes:

 

Oh and 2 levels on my Heroes.. that was definatly good. :)

You should get Erdrick's sword and armor to beat Dragon Quest. My friend said he did it with a bamboo stick, but I think he's full of shit.
