What is SOASE Rebellion dev?

Hello, my name is mindofcorruption97 and I have a question to ask. What is sins of a solar empire rebellion dev? What is different from the normal sins of a solar empire rebellion. You see I've been playing on the dev for awhile because of the minidump problem I have on my original game. Please answer thank you.

The dev executable provides additional debugging options to assist with mod development.

If you run the dev.exe, you can press ctrl, shift, and . (the period key) simultaneous to bring up a dev menu...using the < and letters on the keyboard, you can navigate through the menu and do all sorts of things...spawn units, automatically colonize planets, give resources, switch players, etc...they are also several debugging tools (but you probably won't be interested in those yet)...generally, the dev.exe is excellent for either debugging mods or performing tests (ex: you can quickly pit 100 kodiaks vs. 300 cobalts in the dev.exe while doing it normally would take forever)..

Note that everytime you run the dev.exe after previously running the normal .exe (or vice versa), your setting files are reset...so either backup them up and keep both sets or be prepared to have to change them all the time...

Error messages can pop up while running the dev.exe, indicating problems with your current mod...you can click skip or skip all to get through them as not all errors will cause the game to crash...everytime the dev.exe has to reset your settings file, it will have 1 or 2 "errors" at start up indicating it has to rewrite the setting files so don't be worried by those, just skip them...

O don't worry. I wont be playing the normal.exe until the minidump problem is fixed. Until then, thank you.

Even the dev.exe can experience MDs...the main advantage of it over the normal version is that if a non-MD inducing bug occurs, you can change the associated files mid-game without having to restart sins....

The dev.exe (hopefully) tells you what goes wrong. It doesn't really stop anything from going wrong. If you use it in the wrong way you might cause problems actually. ;)
