We're looking at some time in August right now for the next update.

Does anyone still remembered the Lotto? about the patch numbers? XD

Quick question from a new player: I am playing in a single player game (to learn how the game plays). I have Steam version of the game (bought via Steam). Will this patch be downloaded automatically as any other game on Steam or do I have to do download and patch manually? Do I keep my replays and saved games after patching process is done?

Hello

Bought rebellion recently, just a few things that i read on the forum and agree with after a couple playtrough:

- diplomacy is broken, it requires too much work for very little result compared to the warfare aspect of the game

- phase jumping vasari starbases is stupid as it gives one faction the benefit of having 2 titans in a gravity well. it wouldnt be so bad if starbases werent so easy to spam all around your empire...

- also this is an old gripe of mine but all starbases should ALL be able to move within a gravity well, as the TEC/Advent ones are too easy to avoid

- advent get no real and tangible benefit from their supposed "cultural" advantage; this has been the case since 2008, and it's ridiculous that rebellion didn't improve this...

I'm a bit disappointed, because i really like this game ever since it came out, but the real issues never seem to get fixed.

Also, minidumps are an horrible thing.

Yes it will download automatically and no it WILL break your saved games and replays. If you don't want it to automatically download the patch, you can set the option by right clicking the game in the steam library, then going to properties and then the updates tab. An even simpler (and more surefire way) is to unplug your modem and run steam in offline mode.

It is done automatically.

The NEXT pach will break savegames and replays. They are still there but you probably wont be able to play them anymore.

What is this "next patch" you speak of? I'm starting to think the whole thing is a myth, like Bigfoot and interesting AAA games.

Early, middle, or late August or no idea?  Just wondering what your progress is on it and hope you guys haven't run into any bugs that are thwarting your progress.

I'd rather they run into bugs that thwart their progress than miss bugs that thwart our progress in game. :D

I know I've made this complaint before, but I miss the amount of interaction we used to have on this forum. Stardock/Ironclad is so silent these days. I appreciate when Yarlen can come in and answer some questions, but I wish we had some updates from some of the team (whether they be programmers, producers, whatever) on what's going on. Nothing crazy, as I know they're busy, but a short weekly or bi-weekly update that talks about some of the stuff they're adding would be cool. Something similar to what Paradox does for their patches/DLC/whatever.

Will the update be released around the same time that the CE is shipped?

Just pinging the thread to see if there's any other info that can be shared? How's the balance patch looking?

Yes and no...on one hand I don't blame the devs...trolling and outright hostility towards Starclad certainly would discourage me from wasting my time on the forums if I was a dev...on the other hand though, I think they have brought some of it upon themselves...

It is a feedback loop, a mutual two way street...the devs get quiet because of the trolling/hostility, but the trolling/hostility is in large part due to the lack of communication and long-standing balance/stability issues...

The 1.04 update will be out long before the CE ships.  <_<

Later this month. It's going into initial QA testing later this week.

I hope you are using a different group than those who thought 'Final' was good enough.  2 month for a patch to fix problems brought up during mid-beta is a bit much.  I guess 1.04 will either make or break Rebellion.  Good Luck fixing what should've been done 3 months ago.

I was wondering if I could impose on Yarlen and his time to see if there's been any progress that can be shared regarding the update?

I was wondering if there is any idea when 1.04 is going to be released. I know that it is in beta-testing now, is there any ETA or changelog worked out yet, or is it still too early to know for sure

How do you join this beta? Because on Steam it says its password protected. >.>

Beta is over...the game has been released and is currently at version 1.031 (or something like that)...you can buy it on steam, or you can buy it from somewhere else and enter the steam code on steam...

I'm talking about the beta for the next update dude, lol
