Do you want to test one more BETA before game release?

I would prefer to make a poll, if the forum provided such a tool.

I think it's a given that on any strategy game with the scope of SOASE, that there will be bug-and-balance fixes after release.

Regardless, do you think it would be fruitful to have at least one more round of beta testing before release, even if it means delaying the release date by 1~2 weeks or more?

I vote for YES.

ummmm welll maybe i want the full game. tho im sure patches will come... sooo i think for now the game then whoever is not satisfied with the balance can wait for patches

The people with the money hats say NO.  Release it now, patch it later.

Look at what's happening with Diablo 3.  Who cares about the short term reviews, let's make the money.

Sure, I'd be up for testing one more beta.

Lets see the next patch and we'll have a better idea if it's even needed.

I say yes, because stardock and ironclad have the money to do it, and they would release a higher quality product.  Remember, this will be our game until sins 2 comes out.  Hopefully they would add content later on, and continue to balance, yet they are diversifying their IP's so they may or may not wait.

Seeing as the balancing process will require months and months and months anyway (assuming that it ever becomes balanced) I don't think 1-2 weeks will make that much of a difference...

For those already in the Beta, final release really means nothing other than a different version number...I mean, it's not much different than an update when it comes down to it...

As for those who aren't in the Beta, idk...I just don't know how most people feel about this whole "release ASAP, patch later" philosophy...my feeling is, SD is best just sticking to schedule...

I think we have two different issues....

We have the issue of whether another update should be released before final release....

Then we have the issue of whether the final release should be pushed back....

To clarify my position, I think SD should stick to June 12th....however, I do think one more Beta update would be nice...sorry SD but "fixed internally" doesn't mean a whole lot until we actually get to see it...

Fixed internally means fixed.  You'll see it soon enough.  <_<

Anyways, I'm really hoping for an update within the next few weekdays.

Going into release as is will be a mistake.  First impressions are important, and right now balance will scare many potential new multiplayer players away from the game.  If you need to ban certain races from being used, the game is NOT ready for launch.

Releasing one more update and delaying release for another week or two is the right call.

i would not mind another beta by any means

Agreed. And since most game sales actually are implemented in the first week of release, it should be dealt more carefully.

And I never doubt about that, were the games of Blizzard always on time, they would also have tons of bugs and imbalance issues.

Fixed internally is not really a right use of words IMHO :-) You can fix bugs, but balance?

Anyway, i vote yes obviously, as i am curious, especially about the Vasari Loyalists solution. If they however choose to not patch the game until the release, i am ok with that. As long as they keep supporting the game post-release...

That's more my concern...I'm fairly confident that if SD says they got a bug "fixed internally", they probably do...

But balance changes need to be vetted...the devs are fully aware Beta 3 has serious balance issues, but their first wave of solutions I feel should be vetted before going into a final release...

OMG what is it? another troll?

Game is unplayable.

Has 90% crash/desynk ratio.

And bbalance dont exist, its a vasari world.

What a wild idea to release this mess!!!!

People wake up.!!!!

Closest real timetable to release this with the speed  SD is  "working" on it, is december 2012

While I agree, especially with your comments here, at this late point, I think another beta patch is unlikely.  IMO, The game still plays quite well thru the early techs (except for possibly corvettes).  The learning curve for new players is quite high, so I suspect they won't immediately see the imbalances, and still be able to play enjoyable games.

... so more will be lured into the trap?  :w00t:  Are you sure they won't be scared by the huge contents of the "RTS" game? XD

But I still hope another patch before release. I guess the space games are always less popular, comparing to the bang-bang-bang games.

From my own personal experience, it seems like the MP games are the ones that have issues with crashing.  I've yet to have an SP crash.  So maybe up until this point, they've been just going for SP fixes, now maybe they'll go for MP fixes?  Idk, but I can hope...

Like u sad , games have "issues"with crashing.

This one doesnt. It crashes 90% MP games. Some people cant play it at alll cause they drop or desynk in 100% of their games!!!. this isnt an issue this is  "not working"

If they think they will release a patch in lauchday that will fix some problems, it wont work .

It will scare MP like it scared in vanlilla. Then they had no competition. Now, they have a lot.

Its a shoot in a foot

There is actually a game who's trailer made a very specific jab at SoaSE...time for SD to step up...

Legends of Pegasus, Novus Aeterno, Endless Space, Gemini Wars.... all viable options if Rebellion fails.

Out of those options, only Gemini Wars for me, sadly. And Rebellion cant fail in my case, as i already played it for about 90 hours...even if i did not play it from now on at all, it was money well spent. It was basically only game i played since the beginning of March, bar few matches of Modern Warfare 3.

EDIT: God, how i wish for one more beta today/tommorrow. I cant wait another week  :D

I agree with Quar: it needs more time in the development oven.  It's far from being ready for prime time right now.

I've NOT had a single minidump, or desync in the last 20 or so games online!  (And I used to get mini'd all of the time in 1.34).  So I don't understand, why the difference?  Whats the problem?

The only differences that I can think of are:  I haven't been playing alot of 5v5s, and I've set my Video settings to 'Window Mode' (and most effects at low).  Is it just the larger games that are minidumping?

Desyncs simply aren't going to get fixed, unless somebody catches one, and sends in the info!
