Eador: Masters of a Broken World

Eador: Masters of a Broken World

This game has been in development for quite a while, but they seem to now have a website up, and a new marketing video.  A quick glance indicates heroes, HOMM style tactical combat with city walls and sieges, and hex based, turn based gameplay with city building (which may also be HOMM style).

The first beta stage of Eador is coming to a close. And while we’re still giving out keys to those who wish to continiue playing the current beta, let’s see where we’re at the moment:
1) First of all, a big thanks to everybody who spent their time writing bug reports. We’ve got a ton of useful feedback that we’re looking into right now.
2) We’ve taken into account general feedback concerning the interface. We’ll try to reduce the ammount of unnecessary actions.
3) Animation will be sped up once again, now including attack and heroes movement animation. We’ll also make an option with no animation at all for instant actions.
4) Hotkey system will be added.
5) We’ll probably add sound in the game and a new system of special effects for spells and rituals for the next version.
6) A big part of bugs will be fixed including crashes during shard’s size changes.
7) We’ll add some astral quests for the next version.
The second beta stage will be held in February and the final one is planned for March when we hope to test multilplayer.
The release date for Eador is the end of March – the beginning of April.

Want to place bets on when it comes out? I'm going to say September. ;-)

There's not that much to reconfigure in the new game, so I suspect their timeline may be more accurate than the usual developer predictions.  But we'll see.

Right, I've just seen rumors (mainly from the thread at Qt3) that a bunch of stuff isn't working yet. Like, for example, starting bonuses (that you pay for in the astral).

I started playing Eador: Genesis recently and the game is awesome. I is much better then any Elemental title. I hope this new game will be just as awesome.

I just discovered this game (genesis) last we and before I knew it, 9 or 10 hours of my life disapeared (for only 5$ I must say). This is really a great game: Past the old graphics lies a deep and solid system that wiped my ass properly on several occasion (don't try anything above the skilled level before grasping the mechanisms). I didn't tried the campaign yet ( unlocking all the buildings seems way too long), but the sandbox is great. Develloping your domesne on huge map takes a lot time (maybe too much IMHO), but the many random events provide enough fun for me not to get bored (sending your citizen on a poisonous spiders hunt, selling the children of a province to honnor a dying harpy queen, or extort loot from a merry passing band of adventurer are not options you frequently see in games nowadays). Honnestly I'm longing for the release of the new version.
