I hate Advent

I'm playing two cruel Advent and a cruel TEC in my current  game, and am getting destroyed. I have a chokepoint on a dead asteroid with about 5 hanger defenses and a fully upgraded starbase with all sorts of fun weapons. Not only that but I typically have my level 5 Ragnarov titan there along with several capital ships. Then out of nowhere, the advent send a fleet consisting of a level 2 titan (i'm not sure which one it is, it looks like a vagina though) 3 capital ships and about 70 frigates. For the first part of the battle it looks like im winning, their titan only has about 1000 health left and a lot of their fleet is gone. Then they send in 15 iconus guardians and i start to notice that their titan is actually gaining health despite being bombarded by my fleet. I have a lot of credits and a lot of weapon and armor research. I'm not sure what to spend the money on though as I'm being attacked because whenever i buy new low level caps and send them in, they last about a minute. Is there a way I can tell some of my ships to automatically attack their guardians? And pretty much what should I do?

Use your mouse to manually target the guardians.

Set your low level caps on hold position and have them stay out of enemy weapons range so they can get XP without getting in hamr's way.

Then build more frigates.

Complaining about Guardians and saying the Coronata looks like a vagina, hm...

Well on the off chance you aren't blatantly trolling... get LRMs hanging back behind the starbase with an Akkan and have them snipe the Guardians.

Oh, and build repair bays, repair bays are the best defenses in the game and frankly I'm amazed you wouldn't have any at a choke point.

Against an AI they will suicide into a starbase. Try that.

if this is a thread that is trying to say that the Advent are OP, im laughing already... I love the Advent, but they are a micro heavy labor of love most days. Tec deffence, done right, is practicaly impenitrible without far supirior numbers.

If I read this right you were trying to pop an advent battle-ball with no frigates of your own?

In general a fleet with frigates has the edge on one without- a LOT more total single target damage can be gained from a large complement of frigates then from any number of capitalships.  The only downside is that beinging frigates risks feeding the enemy titan by presenting extremely easy to kill exp snacks for the enemy titan.

You other big mistake was trying to kill the enemy titan first- the beefiest target on the battlefield rather then going for the easy to kill frigates that constitute most of the enemy's damage output.

Actually in point of fact while you definitely melt frigates first if you have AoE, the highest priority target o nthe battlefield will be any enemy Progenitor Motherships- that's where most of the advent's fleet's abiltiy to regenerate comes from.

but then again with a Coronata Titan, Guardians, and advent shield mitigation o nthe field, you likely will have trouble havign enough focusfire to kill any capitalships if you don't bring along frigates.

ok 15 guardians is now becoming the occurring complaint so i'd have to question whether hes trolling.

However given this situation i'd say well done for the devs coding the Ai to send Guardians to support Titans: Bravo Starclad.

Anyway heres what happened billboard. The Suppression Aura ability was probably at level 2 on the Titan which means it reduces all your ships damage output by 30%, the guardians added another 33 %.. so 63%. The rest of the 27% is then reduced by Armor and shields by at-least 50% so in effect 27/2=13.7% was roughly affecting the titan.  It could just sit there regenerating and laughing at you with its vagina face.

That's not how things stack.  First off, because of the funky way buff/debuff percentiles work in this game -30% damage actually reduces the damage of the enemies by about 23%.

Secondly  damage debuffs and the guardian damage redirection are applied ats eperate steps and consequently stack multiplicatively, not additively.  As a result  guardian+suppression Aura is about a 1-.77*.67=about a 49% damage reduction.

Titans have capitalship shield mitigation levels(and the shield mitigation would be full being that he was focusing the titan), and frankly with how hard the AI cheats in terms of resources I'd say at this stage of the game we can bet they had most of their shield upgrades.  So 77% shield mitigation results in a total damage reduction of 1-.49*.23=about 89%.  without any shield mitigation upgrades it would be about 1-.49*.35=about 83%.

If as the OP says the titan was "gaining health" I doubt the shields had been penetrated yet(as he's probably referring to shield regen) soa rmor isn't really an issue to be considered.

All in all I understand why the creator of the OP feels the Advent are a bunch of mean bitches.

You're TEC?     THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU HAVE 3 KOLS OWNING THE TITAN WITH GAUSS RAIL GUN FROM THE VERY START?

If you'd been using Dunovs with flux field and 3 Kols with grg max upgraded you could have killed its motherships and then its titan quite a while before the guardians ever arrived.  Kols are titan killing machines as long as they have antimatter (you need dunovs or they'll run out).

AseOfBishops -kols only hit puberty when they reach level 6 so going all hardcore won't make it as satisfying if there prematurely depleting there anti-matter reserves.
