Support for Ubuntu linux?

Ubuntu 12.04

YES!...good to see this coming out! I am in a little bit of a "pickle" though and was wondering...

Are their plans to make a linux native version of this? The rumors about Steam for linux seems to be coming to light soon.(if you believe it anyway) I have switched totally to Ubuntu and have been really happy working with it and enjoy the "free feeling" I have in completely separating myself from under Microsofts boot!

I don't have much free time, but when I do I like to play a good strategy game and, to be honest, Battle for Westhoth, Hedgewars, and Warzone are all I got to play in linux. I am missing my Sins and Elemental: War of Magic games and it sure seems a shame and waste to got have them anymore because I can't get Impulse to work in  ubuntu!

Any help on getting the new Stardock Central to work in Ubuntu 12.04 would be much appreciated.

P.S. I have loved your games since first getting Gal Civ 2 and would really love it if i could remain a customer through digital distributions.

None that I am aware of.

I sure hope I can get it to work with WINE then...we'll see I guess. I'm in the process of getting Steam to work and so far it runs and updates. I have yet to install anything with it though. I understand, for linux peeps, it is best to buy the games at the website and then use Steam to install/run the games. Multiplayer is a mess for a lot of games, but I don't do that anyway.

Although a native Steam client would "seal the deal" for the future for me...it sure is a shame I'll have to deal with WINE in order to get my old Stardock titles on my computer....such is the price of freedom...I'll live with it.

It's worth it;>

Should work.

I'd say it would probably be easier to just download the installers on their own, as that's all SDC is doing.  That way you're only dealing with one thing at a time.

Why didn't I think of that?...I was thinking I'd have to have the distro software working, but this makes much more sense.

Only thing is I can only seem to download Elemental: War of Magic and the Beta to Enchantress. I bought Sins(all 3 xpacs as they came out) and Gal Civ 2(vanilla) in the past, but can't download them. I guess it's a Gamestop deal eh?...even though I bought them before the Gamestop transition. (I know this has to be the Billionth time you've heard that, sorry)

Anyway, thanks for the replies...at least I can mess around with Elemental. It'll take me a good while to get that working I think...I'll worry about the rest some other time.

Here goes nuttin;>

This is the case at the moment.  Older titles may migrate over at some point.
