Expert Crystal Miners / Sova Missile Batteries

Ok, just got through playing my first game of Rebellion and I noticed two things.

On an asteroid I explored the planet and found  "Expert Crystal Miners". Strangely, like other things found from exploring, the asteroid did not get the little artifact indicator and it also did not show up in the research artifact screen. I don't know if this is by design or what, I just found it strange that everything else I found from exploring had those things and the Expert Crystal Miners did not.

Second, the missile batteries on the Sova class capital ships. The stats between each level are the exact same, there is no progression. Does it just let the ship place more? If so it should say something to that effect. As of right now it looks like upgrading does absolutely nothing.

When you explore, you can find two different things.  You can either find resources on the planet or artifacts.  Resources increase income, etc of that planet.  Artifacts are things left behind by ancient races that endow your entire empire with more power.

As for the Sova's Deploy Missile Battery, I don't play TEC enough to tell you what it actually does, though I do remember that it does look like upgrading it does nothing.  I can't remember what is actually buffed though..

Rank 2 makes the missile battery twice as cool.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, I had a feeling it might have been something like that.

Leveling up Missile Batteries improves the batteries themselves, giving them more damage, hull, armour, and shields.

Are you sure haze? i know they are affected by tec rather than the levels? im pretty sure leveling it actually does nothing? o.0

It is supposed to increase hull, shields, armor and damage by 25% (diplomacy rates, could have changed a bit in rebellion) for every level... If they do not it is a bug. Maybe you should test that again and make sure there are no reseaarches running in the background.

i might get around to doing it, is there a way of testing this in dev mode? just getting 2 sovas use abilities, one being a leveled, one not.. also could it be the sovas levelling rather than the tec level on the batteries itself? so a higher level 5 sova against a level 5 with point allocation differently or not used, having similar or close to stats?

1. Yes, I'm sure.

2. Way ahead of you, here's a level 1 and 3 Sova in dev.exe, one with Missile Batteries 1, the other with Missile Batteries 2:

were both sovas the same level though?

... No?

Capital Ship level doesn't directly effect the potency of any ability anyway as far as I know.

Case in point, here's a level 10 Sova with all 4 levels of Missile Batteries:

So I just realized what the game is doing. It is showing the "upgrade" you get between antimatter cost/cooldown time/duration but of course none of this changes in the different levels. Perhaps it should be like the research info boxes that show things like percentage increase to damage/health/etc instead of showing things that do not change.

So not really a bug, just something odd that could be fixed.
