Despite being obviously imbalanced, a large majority of traits that pop up are both useless (or nearly useless) and boring. I think they should all go away and we should only have interesting and/or useful options for all 5 of our choices every level up.

well its not completely true
i mean some traits are ok just not useful right now cause of the general unbalance
like accuracy, totally useless cause you never miss, but as soon as that is balanced better it could become useful
or spell resist, totally useless because this world is still not huge on magic while being full of hardhitting enemies
but one day i guess there will be more strong magic
in the end there arent really so many trash traits
i agree more about the fun, id like to see some more cool skill and a bit less stats
also there could be skills upgradable and so on
accuracy seems to be compensated by dodge, some units are harder to hit
initiative, added to the new turn system during battles, is definitely a major improvement, during battle you slow the enemies, rise your troops initiative and they will bash any low initiative enemy out of existence
criticals also happen quite often
spell resistance is an actual boon against enemy spells - and it is so frustrating when you spell is resisted
so although some balance is needed, traits do work and add interest to leveling up
but I must agree that I would like to see more magic in Elemental
