When in the hell is Sins of the Prophets going to be released? Or even DoV, they've been working on it for like 4 freaking years each, WHAT THE HELL? CAN YOU GUYS BE ANY SLOWER?!
Well modders have something called lives.
And also they have no obligation to even create a mod. They do this on their own free time.
Also you go ahead to try to gather and create the resources needed to create something like DoV and come back k?
Why should I release anything? That's the real question, one I asked myself many times upon seeing threads/posts like this, and eventually my answer was "I shouldn't".
As a modder I can tell you its not easy. Distant Stars merely improves gameplay and it can take a lot of time. Sins of the Prophets and DoV make significant changes to the game itself. Its not surprising that it is taking so long. Add in the fact that the game code changed (through updates) over time causing a lot of their work to be undone makes it worse.
Besides, most of them (like me) usually have a 40+ job and a family that can also take up time.

Plus yelling "WHAT THE HELL" at them in all caps probably isn't that great of an incentive for them to finish the mod for ungrateful people like Mr. "WHAT THE HELL"
We mod mainly for ourselves, because we want to, and because we can. We don't have to share our work with anyone. Like what was said above. We have absolutely no obligation, or commitment to do so. We share our work, because we want to. Not because we have to.
Modding is a HOBBY. Not a full time job. None of us are getting paid to do what we do. Most of us have real life 40+ hour a week jobs, and family's. We don't sit in front of a PC busting our ass's 24/7 just to make a mod for the ungrateful, and unappreciative, and lazy people who wont put forth the effort to learn how to mod for themselves.
I always give the same answer when we get something like "When the hell is it gonna be released?!"...
Answer.. "When its done". Could be a week. Could be 10 years from now. We work at our own pace, when we have the free time to work on our projects, and when we are motivated, or "arsed" to do something with our projects. It will get done when it gets done. You don't have the patience to wait? Move on.

Good Idea: asking about progress on a mod you like, or are interested in.
Bad Idea: going into a modding forum and pissing on what modders do(seems obvious right?)
What might happen:Finished mods get uploaded to where you can't access them(I'd do it, at least for a while =P)
How to fix this: Quit forums / apologize / Do it yourself / Grow up / Stop being a douche(or make an attempt at this one at least)
*sighs at the tone of the original question (and the fact that the world seems to owe the poster everything they desire).
C'mon if you are so impatient - write your own mod so we can all enjoy the fruits of YOUR labour.

Yeah, we don't get paid to make mods. But thanks for your interest though! If we are going too slow for you, please try and make your own, and report back when you have something worth releasing...Thanks.
Over 17 years ago when I wanted to get into game design, back in the days that modding equaled to possibly working in Basic just to change things around... Those were times when you could not mod easily without serious and painstaking learning, hacking and so on... (See seriously long A** work).
Then to try to get back into it and see a post like this?
IncredibleLOLk these people do it for the fun of it. If it were not for people like this back in the day, we would not even have video games for you to enjoy. You should relax, learn how to do this and then grow up. People love this, so they do it because they enjoy what they can do. Not all games are able to be modded like this, and comments like this has caused other games to move away from modding. If you want an example... Go see Relic Games or their 40k game platform.
To the rest of you... My hat goes off to all of you here. Your posts have been of some serious help and I look forward to sharing what I have been working on with you given time.
WHAT THE HELL, you are really nice people that you take the time to answer such a post.
Don't forget that there are many people appreciating your work and wait patiently without posting.

These people do this because they want to and they most certainly do not do it for you.

If this is trolling, this is pretty pathetic. Honestly, nobody here is angry or raging, we're just laughing at the idiot... That's opposite to the goal of any good troll.
Well internet trolls are jackasses that deserve to be treated as such. It's not necessary, pisses people off, and shows how little life you have if you spend your time and get your kicks by pissing people off on the internet. It's not worth anyones time....that is if you actually value your time.
I just about cried with joy when i first saw the sins of the prophets mod. While it is taking slightly longer than we would all like,
you cant do anything about it. Do you realize that the time they take to respond to your shitty ragepost is time they might
have been using to make the mod? Instead of saying discrediting and mean things like

could make it go faster by keeping your silence or better yet, helping them out with programming or something (which i doubt
they would trust you with anyway 'cause of this bullshit).
