Rebellion Multiplayer Questions

Hey everyone.

Originally posted in the Rebellion subforum before I found this one.

I had a couple questions about the online multiplayer community, mainly how forgiving and or helpful vets are to new players trying to get into the game.

Thus far, I'm able to pretty much manhandle the AI on unfair and don't really sweat too much when playing on vicious. Is there any determining point while playing single player where you'd say I'm ready to start multiplayer?

Seeing as how this new version of the game is getting some publicity on steam, I assume there's a bunch of new players like myself. Is there anyone in the community doing teaching games or the likes? If not, anyone willing to?

I think that should cover it for now.

Thank you in advanced for your replies.

Most players off any game would suggest that the best way to get good is to play multiplayer and play against players better than yourself so you can see what they are doing and how they are beating you. Also AI behave differently than humans do. So practicing on AI will only get you so far.

As for the second question idk, im not even sure if anyone is doing live streams of this.

If you can manhandle the Unfair AI and beat the Vicious AI, then you're ready.  It'll take 25-50 games against people to get up to speed, but you have to dive in somewhere.  However, right now is a very unique and opportune time to begin playing online multiplayer PvP because there are LOTS of newer people around, many of whom aren't as good as you described yourself.  If you play on the Diplomacy expansion server, I think you'll find that most of the people are newish because the pros moved on to the Rebellion  Beta (where most of the people are newish, too).

Online multiplayer PvP is a lot of fun, especially the 5-on-5's.  You probably won't want to play against the AI again once you find your footing.

Thanks for your replies. And I agree, I normally find playing the AI in most games stale once I move over to multiplayer. There's no contest there.

I guess I'll give it a shot and see how I fare.

Again, thanks for the replies.

5 v 5s are actually the most popular games, for the pros at least. Expect to lose to someone better next to you, but try to live as long as possible so that your team mates can win their own battles.

Of course, if your entire team is made of people who only play single player, and you go against a team of pros, well you'll probably get slaughtered like this. Just try to learn from it and don't rage quit no matter how big of a jerk they maybe. ;)

Well, what strikes in that video, is that green sees multiple frigate factories and a 6x spam used against his buddy, but despite having lots of money doesn't even imitate it. Suggestion would be, imitate those who beat you, in game and in later games. Especially, reverse engineer their tactics and strats, and devise your own based on thinking on game mechanics.

This is true for all pc games in truth.

Trust me...the modders don't care enough to be any better than they are...

My voice chat didn't get recorded by teamspeak for some reason, but I was saying I didn't need it, and perhaps a bit to late asked people if they wanted feed. But by then it didn't matter what we did.

It was my first time playing multiplayer since original Sins, and I only did that once or twice before. And we were going in with the knowledge we were going to lose as we were supposed to have a 2 man advantage, but they didn't show up.

Actually in the mist of all my comrades dying, I didn't notice the six frigate factories, I just new they had tons of LRF that I wasn't going to be able to counter in time, and even if I did two more fleets would be behind that one. But yes, that's basically the advice I wanted to show with that vid.
