I had this problem to so I saved the game and reloaded and it was fixed
I saved and reloaded too, but not resolved this problem...
A lot of people seem to have graphical problems with the ring on the Coronata. Definitely something the dev's should look into.
It could be the game is coming close to the particle/texture limit. Ive had similar problems, and its not just the Coronata that has the issue. Ive seen TEC starbases with no particles, or ships/structures with all of the textures not loaded properly. It will load the normal, and light map, but not the color map, or just the light map, or just the normal map. It is totally random when it occurs, but its usually around late game. When you have almost everything researched, and have a pretty good sized fleet, and empire. Game is using around 1.7 gigs when it happens.
In order to reduce lag tremendously, I disabled Debris, Dust Clouds and Asteroids in the Effects tab of the game menu. I noticed a dramatic increase in displayed particle effects since I did this. And the rest of the settings are still maxed out. Don't really keep a close eye on the amount of RAM the game uses though... Still think it sux to have 8GB RAM when only 2 RAM max of it will ever be used.
This probably also explains missing exhaust trails I just noticed with a TEC fleet.
The ring of the Coronata appears OK to me, but the particle effects for Unity Mass don't always appear, but that could also be caused by Major Stress' particle/texture limit theory.
