Ok, I won my first multiplayer rebellion game
I have only played solo until now. Is that a good sign? My opponent seemed fairly experienced.
Also, why so few people in lobby? I hope this is going to get better!

Well, it is a Beta. Personally, I prefer to play Diplomacy for now and from what I can tell more people are on the Diplomacy server. However, even there the player counts are low. For some reason 99.5% of all Sins players only do it in single player vs. AI. The game seems to have appealed to more of a single player 4x crowd than it did to to the online multiplayer RTS PvP crowd. Also, Sins suffered from technical problems early on back in 2008 that hurt the online multiplayer player counts. Hopefully they'll be hundreds of people online for Rebellion.
Are there any groups being organized by Stardock? I would like to play in a noob group. I am really casual. (I mostly play the Sacrifice of Angels mod. I hate the Borg and must destroy them regularly. :) ) I play every weekend against the computer but would like to enjoy the pvp opportunities. And I hope other people believe that it is okay to love Sins and not be very good at it.
So how will Rebellion change the way most people play Sins? Will we be destined to be a 99.5% offline community?
I don't know if a laddering system like Starcraft II uses is the answer but it's easier to jump into a game. The other day I waited about 30 minutes (of the 90 minutes I had set aside to play) just for one guy to decide if he was going to play in the same 2 V 2. We kept saying "Go green!" So their has to be a better way.
If you want to PvP, now might be a good time to try it in Diplomacy. It seems like most of the pros are occupied with the Beta and that there are a lot of newer people around on Diplomacy right now. Part of the problem is that about 80% of the people who are online only play comp stomps with their friends.
Well, after a few days of experience, I have to say two things:
1) the general attitude of veterans is quite funny (as in, borderline/disturbed). But at least they play well. There are exceptions though, like cilverBUG, and others, who are very polite.
2) too many people who set up large maps in 1vs1 to have the time to rush titan.
So, the game is nice, the beta multiplayer suffers.
Hey how can I play game with you guys??
Of course, why not.
