Mods won't load

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem with every single mod i have tried, sins of the fallen, 7 sins, the star wars one, goes to mini dump the moment I try enabling the mod.  I have looked over their sites and tried install orders lowering graphics and everything else I could think of.  Any ideas what is wrong?

The very first mod I tried was Star Trek Angels 2 or something, and that one works great for hours on end.  Unloads and loads easily.  So either the makers of that mod are part of some sort of conspiracy, or ALL the other mods are broken, or I am doing something wrong.  I was just hoping someone here had the problem and resolved it before.  I searched the forums and nothing came up relating to my particular problem.

Try enabling the mod before you load up Sins. For some mods, such as Sins of a Galactic Empire, trying to enable them via the ingame mod menu simply does not work due to the size of these mods (and possibly other factors which I am not aware of).

What version of Sins do you have, and did you make sure that you downloaded the correct version of the mod for your version?

I have .34, I downloaded the most recent ones.  It does sound like it might be to much to load at once..I'll try to figure out how to pre load them.  I have a feeling that will work.

Thanks.

I have .34

Are you sure those mods are for Diplomacy 1.34? 7 Deadly Sins and Sins of a Galactic Empire (if that was the Star Wars mod you tried) are Entrenchment only I think, so those would never work at the least. Sins of the Fallen should work but the has a ton of different module components that make it harder to install than most mods.

I am playing the trinity version, so That's Dip 1.34.  That explains those two.  I did try and follow the guide for fallen, but it won't even load the planets.

How do I load the mods without the in game menu?

If your mod folder, if you've enabled a mod before, there should be a file called "EnabledMods.txt" in it. Inside it your should see something like this.

TXT
Version 0
enabledModNameCount 1
enabledModName "Mod Folder Name"

Change "Mod Folder Name" to the exact name of the mod's folder and it will load that mod at start up.

I am not sure what the problem was, but you just made my day with that.  Sins of the fallen loaded without a hitch and seems to play beautifully.  I will load my mods this way from now on.  Thanks!  I just made a new folder with all the appropriate mod enabled text files and I just change them out now.

Personally I've never had problems enabling them (provided the mod worked in the first place), just disabling them, but good to know. The only thing you can't do this way is check the checksum if you want to make sure you have the correct version of a mod.
