SWTOR is losing appeal

SWTOR is losing appeal

So i'm starting to not want to play SWTOR anymore. The missions are so repetitive. The pvp feels very unepic(not a word I know). And I can never find people to do FPs. And I haven't had sgueuccess in finding a guild that is mature and won't tolerate derogatory language in chat that is of decent size and fairly active. Le sigh.Just venting. Anyone else hitting this wall?

I would say Lawful evil because they hide behind the laws, always seeking to maximize profit at the expense of the game itself. They work from behind the scenes, much as the Sith, waiting for their moment to sell the biggest game in history to every gamer. It will be bad enough to turn every gamer off gaming for all eternity, selling millions of copies and making them the primary economic force in the Solar system. Then they will turn it into a movie.

Overlord was incredible, One of my favorite missions in the whole game.

Oh, we can agree about that, but that's the exception that proves the rule. Most of the DLC was either meaningless costume and weapon packs, or stuff that should have been in the base game to begin with (like Kasumi). Even the good stuff was, by and large, overpriced. If I already paid $50 for your game, why should I have to pay another $10 for a 1-2 hour mission? If that were the way that say, the Baldur's Gate series worked, the whole thing would have cost several hundred dollars.

Don't get me wrong, I loved ME2. I've played it through multiple times on PS3 and PC. But that doesn't mean I like the way EA has wantonly exploited it.

Exploitation is EA's specialty. Agreed. Lawful Evil.

Neutral Evil they wouldnt give a damn about keeping the fan base. Chaotic Evil would be the one release wonder that would never get released. It would get hyped, and pre orders would roll in but they would just take the money and run.

I wonder why EA had to get involved with a LucasArts game in the first place, if its just because BioWare is one of their studios, then that would be really annoying.

It's a match made in heaven! EA's specialty is exploiting stuff and the Star Wars franchise is one of the most exploitable things in the galaxy.

I think a good guild would make a huge difference.  That said, let me sum this up for folks that have never played mmos (eg pretty much the same as me).

SWTOR has story modes that require level grinding, etc, to complete.  Currently there are X classes per side... which means there are X stories.  Once you finish a story in SWTOR, you are "done" with that character and just grind away until you hit the max level (hold on...).

There is life after the max level, but it is best experienced with a large group of friends or in a guild.  Keep in mind, once you hit the max level, the only true new content is better items/weapons/etc, group operations, and the hard mode on flashpoints.  There really isn't more of your character's story - its just other things that happen in the SWTOR universe.  Eventually, you will play everything the game has to offer.  When that time comes, you are just repeating the same thing over and over for item drops and maintaining some sort of online friendship with your guild cohorts.

So, for folks like me (RPG oriented), I expect you will enjoy SWTOR.  I also expect you will get sick of it and bored after some time.  Currently, I'm at a little bit of a stall.  I still have in mind that I want to try out some of the republic characters (I really want to play out things as a trooper), but I'm not super into it and have put like an hour or 2 in over the past week or so.  If I keep feeling this way, I'll drop my sub and then just jump back in if I find my interests renewed.

Personally, I think that if you find yourself sick of the game, just drop your sub, wait a bit (checking in on the website from time to time to see about new content/changes), and the re-up when an expansion comes out with new content.  Odds are you'll start having fun again at that point.  Honestly, I can't see myself playing an MMO ad nauseum.  I will require breaks and then hopefully be drawn back into the fun again later.

Just canceled my sub.  I'll prob renew if they end up coming up with something that catches my eye.  It was fun for a bit anyway.

Time for Guild Wars 2?

Those 3 server(world) PVP castle raids and area conquests sound like fun.

Bioware sent me an email that says "Qyzen Fess misses the adventure!"  And "Qyzen Fess eagerly awaits your return".  Maybe if Qyzen Fess should shut the fuck up.

Lol I got this email too.

Yeah I got to 50 and had fun on the way there, but at the end of the day its still and mmo. Online social gaming is not for me, thus mmos are not for me.

I don't like being forced to rely on other random people to beat parts of the game.

I don't like all the waiting for a group or waiting for your group to do something.

I don't like ALL the grind once you hit 50 for gear that gives minimal stat boosts.

I don't like long travel times and how getting from your ship to planet side is like 5 areas long.

I prefer my social interactions in person.

Why play an mmo you say, if I know I don't like them. Because I was robbed of my Knights of the Old Republic 3 thats why!

Thank you mmo audience you gave warcraft money for a long time and told them and consequently every game company after that it was okay to do games like that.

Anyway, yeah I hit 50, started working on grinding out Multiplayer gear and realized, jesus what am I doing. I left and took a bunch of friends with me. My girlfriend is much happier without it. Shes not a gamer but she loves watching games. RPGS are her favorite but if its a shooter and it has a good story she's down. Like an action movie she says. But she hated SWTOR because it was "boring" to watch and I had to play a lot to keep up with my clan, who apparently only played that game.

I would vote fore Neutral Evil. They don't give a damn about principles, so they can't be lawful, and they are not impulsive enough to be chaotic. I would go with plain, neutral evil - they are happy as long as they can buy developers and screw and mess their games, as long as their hell-born MS Excel suits can "streamline" the gameplay and depth out of former decent titles.

Their ultimate game will be Pong 3D:

Multiplayer? check

Streamlined? check (only two buttons, the gameplay will be 2D, only the paddles will look 3D)

Accessible? check

Playable on consoles? You bet

Rating? For all age groups! Wonderful!

Replayable? Infinitely, as long as you can be cheered by wiggling a paddle to hit a ball.

Playable on your damn smart phone for small chunks of time? Check!

yeah - infinitely searching for more loot (repeating the same scenarios).  Not all that sustainable for me either.
