Cannot update Gal Civ II Gold Edition include Dark Avatar on Win 7 Home Premium 64bit

I hate STEAM and IMPULSE. Just hate this new software delivery paradigm.

I have a retail-box version of Gal Civ II Gold Edition. Tried patching it to most current version along with wanting to buy new expansion pack. However, I keep getting the below in the installation log on install failure. Any help would be appreciated.

The old SDC that you're using was discontinued a few years ago; you'll need to continue using Impulse to update GC2 Gold for the time being. We're currently working on a new version of SDC, but it's not yet available.

That being said, newer versions of our titles (such as GC2 Ultimate) are also available for direct download on the Stardock store without need for any client. As we no longer sell the expansions on their own, if you're looking to get TA you can just get GC2 Ultimate and totally overwrite your existing GC2 Gold (no need to update it, GC2 Ultimate contains DL, DA, and TA).

I have galactic Civilizations 2 Dread Lords. Im using Win 7 and i cannot update this game. Any suggestions?

Likewise you'll need to use Impulse do do so. If it doesn't show up as installed in Impulse, there should be a detect application option you can use to make it show (very old retail installs may not put the right registry entries in place for Impulse to find it).

If you've already tried getting the latest impulse installer from impulsedriven.com and reinstalling it, you'll need to contact [email protected] for issues with Impulse itself.

Hello!

I installed GalCiv II Dread Lords and Impulse after that. Impulse found the game and told me, that there is an update available.

But now it tells me my product code would not be valid, although i registered the game on stardock.com with that code.

 

Is it possible, that i can't use impulse with a german product code?

Impulse shouldn't care, but there were issues back at the time of DL's release with some WU serial keys not being valid. If you contact [email protected] they should be able to help sort it out.

If you registered the game prior to two years ago, it should show on your GameStop account when you log into Impulse (using the same email/password as when you registered with us long ago) and do any updates/account merging they require. Otherwise, shoot an email to [email protected] and they should be able to provide an alternative.
