[suggestion] Injuries are pitifully weak

The injuries we can get when a champion dies in 0.75 are pitifully weak. They have practically no impact on the game. I would suggest you increase their strength by a lot. I've made a "before and after" list below with my suggestions. The important thing here is to make injuries 1) more significant as to be actually debilitating and 2) to make injuries scale with the power of the character.

Amnesia
Before: -10 xp
Suggestion: Champion loses every XP gained in this level. Also, future XP gained is reduced by 33%

Blind in one eye
Before:-2 accuracy
Suggestion:-25% Accuracy, -10% dodge

Broken Nose
Before: -1 Hitpoint
Suggestion: -0.5 faction growth. -3 hitpoints.

Chipped Tooth
Before: Nothing
Suggestion: +20% vulnerability to poison

Flesh Wound
Before: -1 constitution
Suggestion: -15% hitpoints

Gangrene Hand
Before: -1 str
Suggestion: -15% str

Missing Ear
Before: nothing
Suggestion: -15% dodge

I haven't changed these

Pneumonia
Before: Double Damage from cold attacks (by the way this tooltip is wrong, the XML says its +50% damage not +100%)
Suggestion: same

'Tis but a scratch
Before: nothing
Suggestion: nothing

Typhoid Fever
Before: -1 to army constitution
Suggestion: same

Further suggestions for new ones

Cracked Mind - -20% spell mastery

Disturbed Aura - -20% spell resistance

Nerve Damage - Double damage from lightning attacks

I like the idea of varying levels of cripplingness (my new made up word for the day).
Some injuries should be common and minor. Some should be more severe.

Also, maybe injuries should ramp up each successive time they occur: Broken nose first time is minor, but broken nose second time is somewhat worse (shattered nose) and the third time would be pretty severe (nose gone missing completely!).

I'd also like to see injuries based on cause of death (if this is even possible):

  • Badly burned (fire magic death)
  • Frostbite (cold magic death)
  • Withered soul (death magic death)
  • Hypersensitivity (air magic death)

things along those lines.

Maybe this is all mod / expansion type stuff.

It's a single player game.  How you play doesn't have an impact on anyone else.  Why would a developer not give players both options?  Give elitist players an ironman mode so they can play with crippled heroes and horrible situations (heck, even perma-death!) if they so choose.  Let those who save scum (like me, I always thought of a game as me creating my own personal fantasy fiction experience) do so as they wish, reloading to avoid situations that would make the game experience unpleasant.

Games should be fun, no matter your philosophy.  A great developer creates amazing experiences for as many people as the budget allows.

You know, I wouldn't have such a hard time understanding your point if you kept yourself from the namecalling, LordRikerQ. It really drives away sympathy, don't you know?

Apologies, one of my biggest gaming pet peeves are folks who honestly believe there is only ONE way to enjoy and play games -- Their way. Like those who think only Dark Souls level of challenge is fun and all games should be like that and if its not fun for you, you shouldnt be gaming aka Fascist Gamers. You seemed like one, but if you can understand for alot of people gaming is just entertainment and heavy handed penalties and crazy global difficulties (across all difficulty levels) arent for everyone your okay.

I agree with those proposed changes, except for Amnesia, I think that 33% is way too big a number. The numbers could be tweaked a bit but the injuries are really not much of a penalty atm imo.

There's something bugging me though, how would a chipped tooth make you more succeptible to poison damage xD?

As long as there are a few ways to rid a hero of these traits I am all for it. Each way to get rid of them should be a one time use object like a potion gained from an arduous quest.

Untreated bad mouth hygiene is lethal. I'm not even kidding. People die from stuff like dental caries and what it leads to. Really, all you need is a tiny bacteria in the wrong place, and our mouths are hosts to the most dangerous bacteria in our body.
