Reporting Crashes

If you run into a problem, like a game crash there will be a file in your \programdata\stardock\elemental – fallen enchantress direcotry. It’ll be a ZIP file which will contain a debug.err (always helpful) and a crash dump file.  Send that to us at [email protected] subject: Fallen Enchantress report.

Also, if you have some sort of issue like even getting the game to start or something, in your \documents\my games\stardock\fallenenchantress directory will be the most recent debug.err. That will tell us all kinds of information about your system that we can use to troubleshoot.

If you don't already have DropBox, I highly recommend it. http://www.dropbox.com. It'll let you put files in a directory on your machine and then you can paste a public URL to just that file.

Still not finding a \programdata\ subdirectory with the zipfile, even with all directories unhidden.  Got a couple of \programdata\ subdirectories in SDCentral\Temp and Stardock\Impulse\DockData, but nothing was in them.  Did find a debug.err file in My Games/Fallen Enchantress, which I've sent along.

Ok for those wondering about where to find your program data is its hidden you have to go into control panel, and then appearances and personalization. Then under folder option click the show hidden files and folders. In the view tab look for option to select show hidden stuff and there you go. go to your c drive again and you will see programdata. Have fun.

Not so: there's no "Appearances" under WinXP: what you want is Folders-->View in the Control Panel, then "Show hidden files and folders."  Also, no checks on any line beginning "hide," all checks on any line beginning "show."

Yes, I've done this already, and long ago, since I like to see exactly what's on my system, and I've made sure it's still as I set it.  No, it doesn't help, here. ;) Still no programdata except as noted above, where there's no zip archive as described.

pinned post should be updated, under windows XP the .zip file can be found here (after checking the "Show hidden files") :

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - Fallen Enchantress

the .err fils must be here :

D:\Program Files\Stardock Games\FallenEnchantress

although I haven't found one yet

Every time I try to open the diplomatic panel with the Magnar, my game crashes. How am I suppose to destroy them if I cannot declare war? X(

Found the zip, but the Err File contains the command line parameters which in my case include my ID and password for your site in plain readable form. I can remove it, but it still is unfortunate.

(Likely impacts only the people that need to provide their ID and password on the command line of the program start which is only necessary if you changed it after the initial download of the beta.)

That's something I've run into with this latest build. In general, the game will crash if you actively engage in diplomacy. Strangely, when the other party starts interacting with you, nothing happens.

The game crashes at same places as original "elemental" : After loading save games.

Actually this part is really strange - if you load savegame after restart - everything ok, but if you load it during playing - it causes problems on the first load and if you try to load same save 2nd time - crashes.

Somehow if you load autosaves it crashes less then "custom" savegames.

[0.912.002] Game crashed after ending Turn 13. I was due to discover Knowledge. Reloaded an autosave and all was fine.

If this is a known issue please help as without a fix I can no longer play the game.

got an issue ( not a crash) where auto resolve stops the end turn button from working, happens every time ( if the enemy is going to win, such as them vs a scout, and the scout is moving, when auto resolve is selected the turn cant be ended in any way that i have found)  the game doesn't freeze and there is no crash but there is no way to end the turn

using windows 7 cyberpower pc latest FE version

i will upload the .err when i have more to upload

Every time I try to save or the autosave kicks, the program crashes.  It was working just fine a few hours before.  I came back this morning and tried to start playing again and got this behavior.  This happens with my last quick save file, my named save file, and both of my auto-save files.

I successfully managed to complete a Large map, and explore all the land area, and barring some errors when capturing cities I was able to play through to the late stages, and the saves did not become corrupt.  This is on a Win7 64 bit Pro system with 4GB of RAM.  I deliberately avoided the Arena quest (which gives Legendary Weapons) and the Quest that gives Legendary Armor, as these corrupt any save games after getting the techs unlocked.  This bug should be fixed in the next patch.

I knew it must be the quests. Everytime I would start questing my save files get corrupt. I'm going to start saving every turn and reloading anew each turn to see which quest exactly is the one that corrupts the save file as this seems to be the issue that gets me stuck all the time.

I think you must be right about the quests.  I was just playing and after I completed the "establish a city on the site of the imperium" quest, my saves started crashing again.  I had gone many, many saves with the quests not completed, but as soon as it was finished, the game started crashing.

Maybe you are onto something here!  I think this is a good lead, that completing (particular?) quests could cause save corruption!  Stardock, check this lead out!

so is anyone posting here after the new .95 has come out?

or is there a new subject in the forum? or is everyone just submitting bug reports like is requested at the front of this subject?

So, i sent a bunch of crash reports and corrupt save files.

Should I expect a reply or what?

No ZIP in the folder, however I'm getting a crash right after I click end turn. I declared war-so it processes for a few seconds before just freezing and then I have to kill it. Anyway I can send in the save manually?

The first post contains false information. Your data is not in:

\documents\my games\stardock\fallenenchantress

but in

\documents\my games\fallenenenchantress

My game gives a hard ctd when I try to open city-details, without anything except "there's a problem with the program X, trying to find a solution" (rough translation, as I am german with ,ofc, german language selection). Read about this somewhere else too (known bug)

Win7, 64bit - will add the files when I am at my PC next week (currently different laptop)

2 bugs to report from my most recent game:

1. At the end of a game, Spell of Making coincided with an advancement in research (Alliances). The two processes clashed and caused - not a crash - but an impasse. I was stuck in the research screen while the first of the sound effects of a SoM victory played. It then just stopped and I could not proceed. I had to deliberately crash out and reload the last autosave and change the research before doing the SoM victory.

2. My custom sovereigns are all decapitated. They have no heads. After my last victory, my sovereign who won by SoM was subsequently decapitated... Do you have something against winners? JK ;)
