Look, I'm under a lot of pressure here. Trying to answer the thread, emails, and there is a Barbi crisis going on here I am being forced to address because somehow Malibu Barbi has on Red Carpet Barbi's dress and Journey is having none of it. Do you think she gives a flying pokemon about game posts?!?! And do you have any idea how hard it is to get their damn arms in and out of these dresses without ripping the damn things!?!?!?

Unfortunately I have to agree... If it was only one 'game' thread, it would be ok. As it is, all the 'blah blah' threads end up burying the important ones sometimes mere *seconds* after having been posted.

Please understand, it's not the fact that they are 'blah blah' threads that irritates me, a good forum should have a nice balance of serious and lite threads, and to each his own - it's just that the nature of these threads elicit lots of replies in quick succession, bumping the other threads off the main page in no time at all.

There is a new one on the front page and I can't find the category here on wincustomize.

It's a cross over from JoeUser and they have a plethora of categories. I don't think the category has to match anything in our selection to cross over. ABove the title of the thread click on the arrow next to Home and you can see the subcategories. Then just go across and do the same with each.  The first sub category seems to be connected or alike to a WC sub.

I believe the plan is for posts in the Everything else section (or whatever it is called now), to be excluded from the short lists on the front page of WC and the drop down menu.

By the same token, there are game threads that originated on WC (word association, people will hit me but, words to live by, to name a few), that by current definition, should fall into the "Everything Else" category. They don't really belong in WC talk, or Community, IMHO, at least not now that there is a "bucket" forum for those. I am guessing that those do not cross-post to the Gamer Forums, but if they did, they too would be bumped far more often. Oddly enough, I see no complaints on WC about those threads.

This is my final 2 cents on this matter. 4 cents is about all I have to my name right now, and I may have an opinion on something else later.

I personally think this is being blown way out of proportion.

Here's my routine, which isn't hampered a bit by the game threads:

I go directly to My Replies, read and post what I want to. Then I go to Recent Posts. I scan the "headlines" and read what I am interested in. Then I go to the bottom of the page and hit "mark all posts as read".  Done.

No problems for the redneck.

Yes those three were started on WC but they are 4, 10, and 8 years old(in the order you named them), but anyway what I do is click on the WinCustomize  Link and bam! the crossposting game stuff I do not want to see are gone.

I am guilty of it myself, it is just easy to hit the recent post link.

Those whining most have participated in or have posted game/fun threads themselves.  So what's wrong, somebody over at Elemental come up with an idea, and that's unacceptable?

Nothing gets buried!  Just go the the specific section and scroll down the page as necessary, it's as simple as that.  Too lazy to do that?  Then there's no pleasing you and you've no business being here trying to ruin it for those who don't mind a laugh, etc.

nup...nothing hypocritical here..... I've mentioned several times over this particular topic that I participate in the WC games and have done so over 7 yrs and enjoy the mix of games and some nonsense threads.... what is being discussed here....is opinions...(not whines....) which people are quite entitled to....without being told they have no business here....... on how the glut of quick answer extra games threads from elsewhere, two of which are virtually duplicated....are swamping the front page and drop down menu.... which is where newcomers would be prone to look first and just see constant games.....as well as frustrating regulars who use this method..... no one's trying to ruin your fun... just... everything in moderation... too much of a good thing.... like curried cabbage... 

anyway....sounds like Neil has a solution in hand to keep everyone happy..... thanks Neil.... looking forward to it...

thanks Frankief.....     in honour of my new puddy cat... a rescue one I'm fostering... he's a li'l ripper.... had him 12 days... and not sure I'll be able to part with him.... such a character.....

lost my kitten at 18 1/2 yrs last year... and have really been missing having her around....so, think he'll become a permanent fixture the first enquiry I have.... 

We lost an 18 year old a couple of years ago and had a new one steal our hearts a little over a year ago so know how you feel! Truly hope you get to keep the adoptee. I know I had forgotten the joys and tribulations of having a kitten in the house!

Or perhaps due to the forums evolution to cover games.........the site deserves a re-naming...........'Wincustard'...........Yeah, kinda has a ring to it! JOKING.......

By the way..........Anyone heard anything of John? Or is he spread-eagled on some Florida beach nursing a huge birthday boy hangover!

I gotta agree with the V man on this one, every day i check the forums and it's always the same threads over and over again. It gets kinda boring and irritating to see hardly anything new. Lately with the lack of uploads the forums are the only thing of interest that keep me coming back and now that avenue is drying up as well. it's a damn shame. Wincustomize is a shadow of it's former self and i would hate to see it die the slow painful death that seems to be creeping up on sites like Deviant Art and the like.

A few things (that have been said elsewhere):

• You can go to the forums you like to avoid posts of forums you don't like
• "All Recent" or the front page is nice but not the only access method
• Use RSS feeds and a feed reader to build a "virtual" WinCustomize with the content you like
• I like iGoogle
• Post articles that interest you or ask questions or what have you.
• Remember that WC is a community-based site - it requires you to participate to be successful
• Start an #occupy movement at SD HQ
• Won't likely help but I'd get to see you all and say "hi"
