Problems with my skin and two menus

I've built a skin called Slick and when I run two apps 1st called aMSN and 2nd is Venta fax the menus on both are messed up these are the only two apps that are having problems. I tickeled the margins till they went  hysterical but can't solve the problem. I attached snips of both. aMSN only shows the problem when I click the menu otherwise when it first loads it's ok. Appreciate any solututions offered.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to be asking.

P.S. If I load the sublime skin they both work o.k.

Wanna help solve the problem, gmc2, or just play/be a smartass?

well, since it appears that the problem only exists on these two programs, of which neither I have, it would seem that excluding these two programs from skinning would be an appropriate answer. however since I do not have any experience in excluding programs from WB I'll go with the smartass for the time being.

it's not like I haven't encouraged PapaBravo to post these pictures within the forums to make it easier for those that want to help. It's not rocket science for heaven's sake and if I choose not to go off site to review his issues then there are probably other's as well.

Looks to me like you may be using too large a font size in your menus PapaBravo, whereas the Sublime skin does not.  Try reducing the font size in your skin in the menus area and see what happens.

in the top pic the buttons seem squished, font size could be an issue however the painting options could be off also.

bottom pic indicates text placement (margins), font size seems a little large also. another thing is to make sure the caption height setting is set to the same size as the top portion graphic. i.e. graphic is 400x30, make sure the caption height is set to 30.

I'd set all of the button text settings to 0 for top and bottom and see what transpires. do it one set at a time to see which effects these programs.

again the main problem seems to be that only these two programs are effected.

I'm not exibiting any of the symtoms but have a few comments;

the text is pretty big, I'd dump the custom font settings and go back to OS default.

I'd chuck the command bar buttons (120x30) and let the button graphic (375x22) paint those buttons. this could be part of the problem.

I got to go but I'll look some more at the blind later. off comment; you don't have to make graphics for all of the slots. the one above might be an either or and not both?

Point taken gmc2...could've stated your point and offered a solution to the problem with it. But I'll go with you don't know.

this is the second time now people have tried to help you in your posts, and both times youve spat on their advice and them.

if you want help maybe you should respond in an appropriate manner.  lightstar and gmc2 have both given good and correct answers to your

problems, you should be thanking them, not insinuating they dont know what they are talking about. #:(

you could also open up a skin made by a master like mikeb13 and compare what he has done and what you have done.

that is the way most of us learnt, by disecting skins pixel by pixel, number by number, codec by codec until we nutted out the issue.

Fixed...went to Theme part details, Normal style menu bars, Extra settings, Menu width padding Vista/7 only it was set to 10 I set it to 0 this fixed Venta fax issue but not aMSN's problem.

Open Windowblinds, go to settings-->Per Application and than add aMSN and Venta fax to exclude them from Windowblinds.  Some programs just do not accept WB skins well.  The platform that I use to perform my day job work on skins pretty well, but there are parts of it that look like crap--I choose to leave those looking like crap, since I work with them every day, I know where the controls are on it, so no big deal; there is a side program I use for work that I totally exclude from Windowblinds because, although it looks cool skinned, it messes up my ability to work (renders my keyboard nonfunctional), and I don't have time in the middle of my job to reboot (I'm paid on production).

It's just a personal choice each skinner must make when dealing with a program that doesn't play perfectly with Windowblinds.

dude, I mentioned that I don't have your programs and can not therefore recreate your issues. I can look at your skin and see things that might impact your skin's functionality. I do think that dropping that command bar buttons graphic might correct you MSN issue but I have no way to check it out.

do you want me to look at the skin or not?

I set aMSN to use another skin and it plays ok as I stated in my original post.
