HALP - So many different issues!!!

So I have a multitude of other people's problems all occuring at once... When I first installed the game, the game wouldn't launch at all. Steam would mark it as running, and the thread would be created in my task manager, but nothing would appear on the screen. Then, intermittently - it goes to a black screen on some launches. When it does that, I have fixed it using the "black screen" fix on the forum. However, now it crashes any time I try to skip the intro. The one time I did get into the game, it crashed when I was picking my race, trying to figure out what "Super Diplomat" really meant. Any suggestions? I've tried loading the debug.err into Notepad repeatedly, but it just hangs up and I have to manually cancel it.

I've done a fresh reinstall and it just causes the same issue. Is there a fix for the debug file not loading?

AH! Got the thing to load. While I have it up, this is what I've gotten. My original issue is that the game will crash immediately upon skipping the intro:

Go to My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor, open the file prefs.ini, and change the line that says Fullscreen=1 to Fullscreen=0. Then save and see if that allows the game to get past the intro.

If you're seeing any other issues, we'll need to see the error logs from those specific cases in order to troubleshoot them. Notepad doesn't handle very large files well, so be sure to give it some time to load even if it appears to hang (or use any other plain text editors if you have them).

Okay...

The game launched properly this time. Problem #1 addressed. This time the game crashes when I try to open the popup to see what Super Diplomacy is. This is the debug for that crash:

It actually looks like it's crashing in map generation, rather than on opening the popup, but in either case that would most likely be caused by corrupt files. You can try verifying the steam file cache for the game, but if the problem persists after that, please contact [email protected].

Okay, reverified and reinstalled again. Neither fixed it, so I'm off to harass Support. Thanks!

So, this time, it reacted completely differently. Tried to launch the game and the process launched, and Steam recognized it as running, but nothing came up at all. No application, nothing. Any ideas on how to get it to launch consistently? The log is as follows:

The resolution is set right so that doesn't appear to be a known issue--support should be able to help.

Setting the cursor to "hardware mouse" solved these sort of problems for me.  I used to get the game crashing when I tried to click on some of those pop-ups or small scrolled text area (such as the in-game description of bonus tiles in the planet screen).

Also the cursor moves at the "usual" speed during most of the game.

...and similarly for me in other PC games with some kind of "standard Windows" cursor option.

Just in case anyone else is having similar problems, I've found out that it isn't just the Steam version that does this - my hard copy of the game has the exact same problems.
