truly not complaining here, but i really want to know why for the top skinners list, the numbers dont change accuratley.

for example, i got 10 thousand downloads yesterday, and yet when it is updated, my overall downloads for everything only show 4 thousand extra??

can this be fixed somehow? its really disheartening to see all of these downloads lost to a glitch or whatever you guys call it.

There is a glitch, has been for a long time, download count showing for yesterday is not actually just yesterday, it for some reason of wrongness

is actually the last 2 to 3 days worth of downloads.

When you been here a while you start to see glitches in a LOT of places... SOME "glitches" really upsets oneself..... But  some discoveries are probably best kept to yourself.... ;)

How many downloads you get (and how many are showing in certain places) is irrelevant to anything except one's ego, what is more important is that you, and the people who downloaded, are happy with what you made.

I think you are a great skinner and a wonderful person but that response is just the company line. WC is what it is.

I guess that depends on the person and how many downloads you lose per day, if 6 thousand of your downloads dissapeared, you would probably ask the same question.....

and from this point of view, ego has nothing to do with it...just in case you were wondering.........

Not at all, that is exactly how I feel about it.  Do I like downloads? Sure. But having a certain number displayed somewhere on this site is not my goal at all. I really don't care if it's accurate. I don't care if I am ever in the top 10 skinners, or whatever. That is not important to me at all. What is important to me is that people like my skins and use them. Comments on my skins are much more important to me than download count.

I would be just as happy if no one ever saw how many downloads I got on a skin (like the way Master skins are). I would be just as happy if there were no ranking on the right side of the site for who is in the top of whatever catagory. It simply is not important. Download count accuracy is needed only on master skins, because that is dealing with money, and no one sees the download count on those except the skin creator anyway.

As long as I am satisfied that I did the best I could on a skin, and the people getting it like it as well, then I am a happy gal. :grin:

That presupposes the 10,000 is correct and the 4000 is wrong.

The converse is likely correct...;)

This really make sense,  as the  "Last 30 Days" downloads count always seemed to me accurate, but certainly couldn't be 30 times the "Yesterday" count   !

Last I recall it was an anomaly due to the complexity of the Stardock/Wincustomize site 'architecture' - multiple servers, etc. It takes time for the counts to synchronize and thus be accurate...;)

So... this glitch in the system explains why my download count is 0? :-"
