A nice comprehensive manual

One that's full of everything you need to know to play the game.

Yes.  A fine, accurate manual is very helpful.  I would like to suggest that the manual be provided here on the forums as a Word / Open Office document so the commu nity can participate in 'editing' it for the benifit of all.  Eratta are wonderful, - but eratta embedded in the text where it applies is so much better.  Just my 3 cents...

A modding manual would go well with this.

They could make it a wiki here on these forums. That would be kinda cool.

I would be happy to participate in such a project.  Perhaps a number of us might agree to coordinate various portions of such a manual.  One thing I have seen missing for otther on-line manuals is an easy method for users to access a version of the manual that matches whatever version of the game they are playing.  I wouold suggest that changes made in each version of the program be embedded /placed in the manual where the predecesor / previous item is.  I hated following all sorts of hyperlinks to try and sort out what was really the status of the game.

I would welcome such a manual, and I think it would make a big difference to the success of Stardock's second Elemental game to have an updated manual for FE, with an option to see differences between different versions (if there are as big changes between versions as in WoM, which is a little bit less likely ;-)).

Best regards,
Steven.

@StevenAus  yes, with WOM 1.4 basically the last major upgrade of the game, a manual now (I think there is one already?) would not really have to have the stages (based on prior versions) embedded within it.  You are right.
