Advanced Start

I think what would be really fun is having an advance start in Rebellion.

To elaborate in the game options panel before the game starts it would be nice to have options where you can pick the size of your starting fleet and how many planets you want the factions to start out with. Possibly being able to adjust your credit/metal/crystal amount as well.

I'd love to hear what you all think about this idea.

Additional planets are probably too much to ask for, as that would imply modifying all the maps in the game before hand, and may not even be possible with the random maps. And that's before dealing with balance issues.

For the rest, I did enjoy a feature similar to this in Empire Earth II, though I don't think its that essential for Sins. The income rate and fleet sizes are already adjustable in the options.

Well yes how much fleet you can build is adjustable. What I'm talking about it adding an option to have a good size fleet there when you start.

I know, and that's the part I was referring to with "feature similar to Empire Earth II". Technically you could just mod the current quick start into what you propose, though you'd have to enable/disable the mod instead of changing it in game.

It's actually possible to create advance-start scenarios using galaxyforge, within certain limitations.

Cross your fingers that the devs give us a map transfer system so we can actually play galaxyforge stuff in multiplayer...

That would be awesome. I was playing a game today using Sins of a Galactic Empire mod and they give you 3 starting planets. It would just be nice to have it not use the galaxy forge.

No it's possible for Randoms; I've done this in SoGE. That is where each player starts with more than one planet and on a Random map. It requires a bit of balancing work, if you want the planets to start with upgrades, but it's been done.

modify the quick start for more starting vessels, even a capitalship (colony).

7DS has templates that fake it.  We add recon, support, battlecruiser, capitalships, or 'titan' to the starting world and label the map as Heavy because you start with a heavier than normal fleet.

We have NormalStart and QuickStart options... why not HeavyStart and UltraStart options.
